They were trained to deter any threat. They were holding back because they were trained to fight regular humans. They wouldn’t instantly finish the boys.
Why wouldn't they finish the boys?

I thought so too. I'm just entertaining the idea that Base Kids Pre are many times below Gohan while simultaneously being capable of defending against multiple Cell Juniors after the Rosat. I used to think they were at least on par with the Cell Jrs prior but my discussions with Feats made me reconsider.Yeah, I'm not sure if the kids got a lot stronger in the RoSaT. I used to think no. The focus is only on Gotenks' gainz.
Piccolo seemed to hold them off decently and he's what, several times below Base Kid Gohan?I thought so too. It's implied by Cell's statement that he was never holding their own. In the case of the kids, the only thing we have to go by is them throwing hands against the Cell Jrs. without ever being dominated.Piccolo seemed to hold them off decently and he's what, several times below Base Kid Gohan?
And in all of those cases, the weaker fighter is evidently dominated. No such thing happened with the kids. Just take the scene as it is.Throwing arms with someone isn't a big deal, specially in Super. Even in DBZ we'd have someone much weaker trading blows before losing sometimes.
Basically, the logic here is that Goten and Trunks should win in a 2v2 because they were losing on a 2v7. This doesn't make sense.

The Cell Jrs aren't using a ton of effort, they most likely could easily overwhelm the boys if they were really trying. It's implied by Cell's statement that he was never holding their own. The boys are using their full effort and barely scraping by while the Cell Jrs are just toying around. The scene doesn't last long to see a final outcome. And in all of those cases, the weaker fighter is evidently dominated. No such thing happened with the kids. Just take the scene as it is.
Taking the scene as it is would mean that they were capable of defending against the Cell Jrs.Taking the scene as it is would mean admitting it's inconclusive, my child. You're just seeking validation.
Do you think the kids powered up massively in Super considering they can keep up with Cell Jrs now?Taking the scene as it is would mean that they were capable of defending against the Cell Jrs.
What happened now with the boys that says that? The last DBS chapter tells us DBS Boys >>> Z Boys, so I think it’s definitely possible now.
