How is it nerfing? Trunks expects Goku to be at a certain level and is pleasantly surprised when he finds out Goku surpasses his expectations, Goku says Trunks wasn't giving his all when he attacked with his sword.

How can Goku give Trunks hope if he's only marginally stronger. Goku is strong enough to give Trunks hope for the future. Goku completely clowns Trunks with ease, neither are going all out. I just don't see how anyone walks away from this thinking Trunks can be competitive with Goku. Trunks sure as hell doesn't think so.

It's madness. Gohan flat out states he isn't on Goku's level, Trunks is on Gohan's level, these guys argue for a small gap between Trunks and Gohan, then they want a small gap here with Trunks and Goku too. Just go with the story people.

Yep, the story is crazy like that. Plot gains don't make sense. They never were intended to. If you think that's bad, have you ever read Dragonball?

Krillen and Yamcha making the ridiculous leap of being around King Chappa's level to freaking Piccolo Daimao, with his youth restored, is in-freakin-sane. There's just no rhyme or reason for that kind of plot hax. Piccolo's 6 day gain on Kaio's planet, Gotenks achieving a Base power superior to his Super Saiyan power and Super Saiyan 3 on top of that to boot in 6 days is also fucking incredible. This is just shonen nonsensical power ups.

I think Goku >= Trunks >= Gohan 1 arm by all the same gap.

I already think Yardrat Goku is comfortably ahead of Trunks, so it just comes down to what extent. Goku would win, but that wouldn't stop Trunks from getting some attacks in. He did the same to the Future Androids despite being shit to them in power.

I think Goku is significantly ahead. I think a fight between Goku and Trunks goes down a bit like Gero vs Piccolo (Full Power).

Nah, that's an unnecessary gap. I just read through the part again and I see nothing implying Goku to have such a lead over Trunks, man. I'm not arguing that Goku isn't superior, just not as superior as I thought.

Nahh...Yardrat Goku would tool Future Trunks from the Mecha arc. At minimum we get Yardrat Goku > Expected Goku > Future Trunks. I have the gap at 80% and thats about as small as it can get.

First off...i would argue Future Trunks has the more intense training...because we know he confronted the Future Androids again. Goku just had Piccolo and pre SSJ Kid Gohan. Second off my guess is Trunks did not outgain Goku by that much. In the Mecha arc hes 20% behind Goku..in the Android arc hes 7-10% behind Goku.
