Did Future Trunks get stronger during the Android Saga?

This is something that has always confused me. He is not noted to do any special training or fighting that would increase his battle power. Yet people give him an unreasonably high increase during the Android Saga because the plot demands it. Well... I'd like actual evidence that ascertains the same

Well basically when trunks comes back from the future he's comparable to goku and vegeta who just trained for 3 years. So an increase has to happen whether it makes plot sense or not for him to have increased that much training alone while the time machine charged.

If you believe he's comparable to the other Super Saiyans like Tien suggests, he definitely got stronger.

If you don't, then you could probably have him close to his Mecha arc level.

He was able to get much stronger after Gohan's death while hiding out from the cyborgs, so I see no reason to discredit Ten on that matter. He just needs to remain weaker than #18, who thought she could kill him whenever she wanted.

Chapter: 355 (DBZ 161), P8.3-4
Tenshinhan: “Th-this is the man who took down Freeza…And he was helpless before these androids…I’ll be frank…! No matter how strong Goku may be, he shouldn’t be that different from Trunks or Vegeta…”

They are in the same general range of strength. Since Goku and Vegeta powered up significantly, Trunks should have done the same.

EDIT: Ninja'd by three people.

Would've been nice if Toriyama actually bothered to specify if Bulma still had her dad's gravity chamber technology in the future so these questions wouldn't be so frequently asked

I don't really see anything in Trunks' dialogue during his debut that would suggest that he can put up a fight against the androids with unimaginable power unlike anything in this world like his Android arc self could.

Do you think Trunks actually fought them again? Because it seems real odd that he'd risk it again.

I think he did, because #17's respnose to him later showing up when he came to kill them suggests he's challenged them multiple times and that he thinks he'll never get sick of his futile efforts.

The feats override Tienshinhans opinion on the matter. Trunks was knocked out in the same manner as Piccolo, whereas Vegeta -despite suffering the same amount of damage that Trunks did, despite having a broken arm and battled Android 18 for a prolonged period of time, was able to get back up and keep fighting.

Trunks is nowhere near Goku and Vegeta.

Gohan lasted much longer against Reacoom despite still being only over 10,000 like Kuririn. Ten's statement isn't overridden when Kami who says mostly the same things as him also confirms Vegeta > Trunks.

Trunks saw Goku as the solution to defeat the Androids based solely on his strength. He also didn't expect Vegeta to be so powerful and even comments on it. At this point he didn't even know that the Androids in this timeline were stronger than the ones in his.

The three are surely not within the same power group.

No.
It's just that Goku didn't get any real stronger(as is further proven, when he calls 1 year of training in RoSaT pointless unless he finds a way to ascend) and Vegeta just became a Super Saiyan.

He didn't fight the Future Androids a second time, that wasn't part of their plan.

Creating paradoxical counter-arguments is surely not an impressive way of countering the points I made. We are shown that Trunks is definitely weaker than Vegeta and through his own narrative dialogue, are told the same thing.

So Trunks had either 8 months or 3 years going by the two statements of how long it takes to charge the time machine, and wasted that time staying the exact same strength. While Goku also had almost no improvement despite facing threats he heard were monsters to Trunks 3 years ago, and the other fighters magically have no clue what his unhindered power was and got flabbergasted by his ki while sick, with only Gohan and Piccolo knowing Goku's true strength despite having no improvement since his sparring with Trunks :eek:k

You remind me of how tedious it was to argue with you on that other forum.

Plus, the time he spends in the Rosat being shorter is kind of meaningless when, you know, Kaiosama said 5 months with him is equivalent to thousands of years of training on Earth, so unless he magically recreated the higher gravity and harsher conditions of the Rosat that argument is bunk too.

I dunno. Seems odd that he'd risk fighting them again after complaining that one Android is too much for him to handle. Looking back at the way he responded to Bulma while in bed tells me he wouldn't be that naive ever again now that there are other options.

Well, we know from that special chapter that his fight as a 17 year old was the first time he ever fought the cyborgs since Gohan KO'd him when he tried to join in 3 years ago, and that #17 basically says he was a toy for them that never gets sick of his attempts - I highly doubt they only fought once, considering that.

Exactly how was Trunks supposed to get any real stronger, when he didn't have a gravity machine, sparring partners, anything?
He most likely struggled to survive with his mother throughout that entire time.
More importantly, there are exactly ZERO statements indicating such a huge power up.

As indicated by Goku's quote before he uses the RoSaT, training would do him no good.
The humans were completely clueless on the power of a Super Saiyan, they didn't even see Trunks and Goku in proper action and were just banking on Goku being a Super Saiyan and thus beating the androids.
That's when Krillin even says after Goku is beaten.

I fail to see, how that argument is nonsense.
Training in an harsh conditions won't make him any stronger, unless he ascends.
So how is a couple of years spent training in much less harsher supposed to make him much stronger?

I just try to go based off Trunks' actions. He tells Goku that he'll return to see them if he's alive, then later tells us he was hoping to either watch Goku exploit the Androids or bring him back to the future to fight. Trunks getting into another fight with the Androids just seems too dumb for him to even consider. He even admitted how lucky he was to survive the battle against the Androids.

Also, before they go to find Gero's lab, he says he couldn't do shit to the Androids as a Super Saiyan....only for him to say he put up a good fight a few chapters later. Most of what he says stops making sense when you think about it.

He didn't have any sparring partners during the time he trained after Gohan's death, yet he went from being unable to defeat base Gohan to being slightly stronger than him. Bunk argument #1.

Training would do no good at that point when he awoke after he recovered because there wasn't any way to get a year's worth of training outside the Rosat (something Roshi states) with Cell lurking around getting stronger daily to absorb the cyborgs. You can do better than that, man.

Training in a harsh condition DID make everybody stronger. Vegeta spent only 2 months attaining SSJg2, yet his Super Saiyan form was much stronger which #16 was quick to notice. Vegeta and Trunks also were noted to get stronger during the 2nd Rosat where they didn't "ascend" into anything if you're forgetting that as well.

And "they have no idea what the power of a Super Saiyan is" is also complete nonsense after they were marveling over how strong Goku's standing ki was before fighting 3 years ago, and Vegeta and the others were in awe watching them actually spar. Without removing their memories entirely, sick Goku's ki flabbergasting them when his healthy self is more or less the same as before is, as I said earlier, nonsense.

:eek:k
