Did Gogeta need Super Saiyan to beat Janemba?

I think not, since Goku alone was putting up a good fight, but then it begs the question: why would Gogeta transform if it wasn't necessary?

If you go by Base Gogeta (M12) = Base Gogeta (canon), how do you have him comparing to Super Janemba and Goku?

I'd actually have SSJ3 Goten above Base Gotenks.

I go with a hypothetical canon Gogeta = M12 Gogeta. I think Janemba was toying with Goku, he recovers from Goku's blows as quickly as they were dealt and was laughing immediately afterwards. At best I put Super Janemba on Super Buu's level which I have higher than Base Gogeta whom I have above SSJ3 Goku, or at the least I put him (Super Janemba) on Suppressed Super Buu level when he fought Gotenks inside the ROSAT which is where I put Base Gogeta. So overall I'd say Gogeta would've needed SSJ to beat Janemba.

I think Gogeta was haxed in Fusion Reborn, so he isn't supposed to be an actual Hypothetical Gogeta from the Boo arc. Even if he was a Hypothetical Boo arc Gogeta, Gotenks at Base is more powerful than a SSJ3 Goku, and we know the Adults isn't multiple times stronger than the Kids.

I would assume 2 things. 1, he wanted to finish the job quick, or 2, he did it for shits and giggles.

He doesn't need it. Toei just wanted to show how sexy Gogeta is as a SSJ while flashing his aura.

They cant even get base gogeta result unless they supress themselves judging by the movie. In their lowest forms (base) they ended up forming an ssj fusion... So it shouldnt really prop that question.

I also hate when people do that. Gogeta is just too kewl to be comparable to annoying Gotenks, regardless of how the kids compare to the adults while not fused.
