Outside of the Pokemon games themselves, did Pokemon have some long-term influence on gaming?

Eg
Shenmue advanced open-world gaming and led to Yakuza
GTA led to well-regarded similar games like Sleeping Dogs, Mafia, Saints Row and Driver and maybe made open-world more popular
CoD and Halo led to an FPS explosion
Final Fantasy made JRPGs and party-based RPGs more popular
