When I say "real life," I'm alluding to a person with which you come into physical contact. This means outside of the online virtual world; forums.

Do you talk about Dragonball with anyone outside of this online world?

Nah.

When I was a kid, it was huge. So, pretty much anyone I keep in contact with from elementary and middle school know about and even "like" Dragon Ball Z... More particularly, the Ocean dub and original Funimation dub. Only a few people that I know went beyond that to really experience the series deeper (the Japanese version, the manga, etc.). I know even fewer people who watched Kai or watched/read Super.

So, while I do have friends who "like" Dragon Ball Z, it's mostly on that dub superficial level like, "Man, remember when Goku went Super Say-an against Freeza and they had five minutes on Namek? That was cool."

If I know I can get away with it, I'll talk about it even if they're not a fan. I relate it to non-DBZ things.

As far as other fans go, I've only known a couple. A couple of guys at work who were into newer anime and like ten years ago I had a couple of friends into it. I remember hearing one of them talking to his friend on the phone and he mentioned DBZ and I was like wtf did I really just here that? Since it was pretty lucky to come across another DBZ fan like that.

I do have one IRL friend, that I've known from childhood. He recently had time to watch DBS from scratch, as he has not yet seen it. I opted to join one day, while taking care of my other agendas. He was at the Goku Black Saga, and he actually has finished watching the entirety of DBS since then. I've only watched to the end of the Goku Black Saga, and the remainder I read the manga for since it was way faster than trying to finish ~60 episodes. Neither of us talk about it in depth like I've seen conversations on these DBZ forums.

I believe this is where forums excel. This structure allows these conversations to be had, for enjoyable topics that aren't really discussed in everyday life. The few IRL conversations pertaining to DBZ that I have are basic in nature.
