Why did he make himself the weakest of all the artificial humans? Especially if you include the non canon movies, he was seriously overpowered by his own creations, and by a wide margin. Not to smart for a scientific genius.

It could make him insane & lose his brain if he powers himself up too much. I think that was the reason. At-least with the absorption type models.

17 and 18 were sane in the regular timeline, but insane in the world of Future Trunks, so maybe that one could go either way.

Do you think Cell would have obeyed him if Gero was left alive?

He did call him Dr. Gero-sama in the original, so it seems he at-least respects him.

However if he takes a bossy tone with him or just makes Cell angry for some reason, I guess Cell would kill him, but not otherwise.

Well, IRL scientists will probably make some evil muddafuking robots that are smarter, stronger, faster etc. It's just the way it goes.

That's true, but those scientists usually don't turn themselves into androids too.

I just don't think Gero had any good contingency plans l0l.

There is an answer to this. Gero verifies that #19 was the one who converted him; I guess he never taught #19 how to make infinite energy models.

^that's what I usually went with as well, although I would probably dupe #19 into transplanting my brain on 16's body or some shit without informing him it's an infinite type.

19 seemed pretty well under his control. Maybe only the absorption types were less prone to disobedience. Easier to control both physically and mentally.

Gero was already old. He was better off replacing his whole body than letting his old body to age anymore.

I'm not the smartest guy in the room, but, if I were to get a new body, fo sho I might not make it the exact same as my old, decrepit, goofy Gandalf looking self. I mean, call me out for being weird here, but if I am ALREADY kidnapping and torturing two underage children, maybe I take the body of the good looking young man while I'm at at. And then I give myself a battle power higher than all the other androids.

But that's none of my business.

Yeah, I always thought that he went back to his energy absorption design with #19 and prevented him from gaining any knowledge of creating infinite energy types, hence he couldn't transplant his brain to an infinite energy model. Turned out to be a stupid mistake ultimately, but he also wasn't expecting to fight someone as powerful as SSJ Vegeta with #19.
