We're coming up on a decade since Dragonball Super initially released. In retrospect, what did DBS do correctly, and what did it do wrong? Was DBS a proper continuation and/or upgrade to where Dragonball Z left off? Are there any aspects that are considered genius, a decade later in retrospect?

The entire story was garbage. BoG was the only thing that was cool and some moments in ToP.

It should be retconned to be a side story as GT was, which is what most of us have been doing anyhow since Daima came out.

It's good the creator was able to excommunicate Super before he passed, that was a big win.

It had moments of good animation during the ToP with Shida and some others joining in. And the first 1/3 of the Goku Black arc had its moments until the time travel plot holes and insane contrivances took over the plot. That's... about it, lol. Everything else was bad. Not as boring as Daima though.

The manga isn't all too bad for DB standards. It's a mess, but at the manga is just a collaborative effort between Toriyama, Toyotaroh, and whatever the other guy's name was. The anime, on the other hand, is just a mess of a bunch of writers not knowing to do.
