Is the manga fight different to the anime fight? Cause I seem to recall Dabura ragdolling Buu there for a while Granted though it's been a long time since I actually watched DBZ

That doesn't make sense bud.

Goku is always below Vegeta in terms of physical strength, always. And he compensates that with his superior ki control that allows him to:
1. In his base state, perform superior techniques like the KK and the Genkidama.
2. As a SSJ, to dominate the transformation and evolve it much faster than anyone else.

But there's no doubt Vegeta has always been much better. In his base state he was always much higher except for the moment Goku arrived at Namek (and that was justified through gravity training and having 6 extra zenkais opposed to Vegeta simply having one zenkay in Namek), and as soon as Vegeta has his second Zenkay in Namek, he becomes much stronger than Goku again).

The same happened as a SSJ. Just after transforming into one, Vegeta became much more powerful than Goku in Namek, and only through mastering the transformation to a much higher degree than Vegeta Goku regained his superiority.

That clearly proves that ability matters in DB. Maybe not the 'ability to fight' as in 'being more skilled at defending and attacking' but it mattered a lot when it came to controlling one's Ki.

It's a Slobberknocker!!!

Goku VS Ginyu. Ginyu only took the edge thanks to Jeice's intervention.

Vegeta VS 1st form Frieza. None of them took a noticeable advantage.

Advantage

Goku VS Old King Piccolo (1st part). Goku had the advantage, but he clearly didn't have an easy time.

Gohan VS Vegeta (weakened). Gohan held his own, but Vegeta won.

Yamcha VS Tien. Yamcha put up a surprisiny good fight.

Kid Goku VS Krillin.

Goku VS 4th form Frieza (warm-up).

N°16 VS Imperfect Cell. Despite the claim that they were at equal power, Cell had a noticeable edge and N°16 mainly keep up by surprising Cell twice. Plus, Hell Flash didn't affected Cell that much.

Goten and Trunks VS N°18. 18 had the upper-hand since the kids are strained by Mighty Mask's costume, but they manage to block most of her hits. As SSJ, 18 barely dodged their blast and ended the fight by disqualification. A surprisingly close fight that makes one wonder how the kids would have faired without the rules of the tournament and the costume's restrictions.

Goku and Piccolo VS Raditz. Raditz toyed with Goku and Piccolo. The only reason why I put it in this category and not lower is because they managed to grab his tail and would have won if not for Goku's naivety.

Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan vs Nappa. Nappa dominated most of the fight, but the Z-Fighters still managed to give him some trouble, a fact that Vegeta noticed...and mocked

Goku VS Oozaru Vegeta. While Goku stood no chance, he managed to slow down the prince.

Goku VS 4th form Frieza (50%). Frieza was simply destroying Goku. It's not lower thanks to the Kaioken x20.

SSJ Goku VS N°19. It's notable for being one of the few fights to qualify in both sides. Goku was initially walking over N°19, then, because of his sickness and 19's absorbing abilities, the android returned the favor.

Piccolo VS Imperfect Cell. Piccolo was trashing Cell, but it's in this category due to his Kamehameha allowing to get a sneak attack in.

Z Fighters vs Cell Juniors, but it only qualifies in this category thanks to Vegeta'ss and Trunks'; pretty good performance (though they were still losing).

Videl VS Spopovitch. Once Spopovitch stopped to toy with Videl, one of the most vicious beatdown occured. Still, props to Videl for snapping his neck.

SSJ Gotenks VS Super Boo. Besides with the Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack, it was made clear that Gotenks stood no chance. Super Boo doesn't even take him seriously.

Goku VS Old King Piccolo (2nd part). To put it simply, King Piccolo annihilated Goku once the coats are off. He even tanked his Kamehameha.

Krillin and Gohan VS Recoome. Recoome literally one-shotted Krillin. Gohan doesn't perform much better. All of his attempts to attack Recoome were vain and violently punished, and he came out of the fight with a broken neck.

Gohan VS 2nd form Frieza. Angry Gohan begins the fight by hitting Frieza with everything he's got...which did little more than annoy him. Then, Frieza returned the favor with cruel glee.

Piccolo VS 3rd form Frieza. The fight ended before Piccolo even had the occasion to retaliate. The poor guy couldn't do see any of Frieza's attacks coming.

Vegeta VS 4th form Frieza. All of his attacks failed. Even his strongest blast got kicked away with ease. Afterwards, Frieza proceeds to break both his body and his spirit by beating him up to near death. Finally, he blasts Vegeta through the heart. Probably Vegeta's worst defeat.

SSJ Vegeta VS N°19. A completely one-sided fight. 19 did punch Vegeta, but it didn't had much effect.

Trunks, Piccolo and Tien vs N°17 and N°18. The heroes were taken down even easier than Vegeta.

N°17 and Piccolo VS Imperfect Cell. Aside from sneak attacks, Cell spent the whole fight walking over the duo. Not even the Light Grenade helped.

Super Vegeta VS Semi-Perfect Cell. The fight is about as one sided as the one against N°19.

Base Gotenks VS Super Boo. Boo was unaffected by any of Gotenks' attacks. He then slapped him away.

Yamcha VS Tien. Yamcha put up a surprisiny good fight.

Yeah, but it's worthy to say that was only when Ten was holding back. After showing more of his powers, Ten blocked Yamcha's KMHMH and two shotted him.

Kid Goku VS Krillin.

The same as said above.

Krillen vs Jackie Chun ( 2nd Round )

I think this should be put on "Advantage". Kuririn admitted he was overwhelming inferior to Jackie and that he wouldn't accomplish too much in a hand to hand combat:

Maybe that into a Slobberknocker? Vegeta insisted on the idea of Zarbon coming at him off guard and made use of a "dirty" tactic, throwing sand on his eyes.

I don't think they should be on the same category. Kaioken Goku vs Vegeta was a ~89% gap, more in the handsome Zarbon vs 24k Vegeta or Goku vs Cell (pre IT KMHMH) territory, while Goku one shotted Akkuman on an impressive fashion, even thinking he over did it. It's more like in the Goku vs Ginyus ballpark imo. Unless this is Goku before using his full power?

I'd add Kamiccolo vs #17 at the "It's a Slobberknocker" and Yamcha vs Saibaimen at the "Advantage".
