The character designs are amazing, from Beerus to Whis.

Monaka looks fine. Zenos could have looked better, but that doesn't disregard the creativity and ingenuity of Beerus, Whis, Vados, Champa, Goku Super Saiyan God/Blue, Kaio-Kenx10 et cetera.

Not to mention Future Trunks and Goku Black now.

I'm 50/50 on the character designs. But that's about how I felt about the rest of dbz. Some good, some bad, some great.

Goku's new forms and reusing Kaioken is not creative in any way, a 6 year old with MS Paint could have made those new forms.

I could tolerate the original SSJG to some extent because Toriyama personally disliked how flashy the Super Saiyan forms got, but SSJB is easily the stupidest concept he's made in years. A preschooler with a coloring book could make a blatant palette swap

I disagree.

What Toriyama did was genius, and only something the original author could have done. Just because it's not a grammy award winning series doesn't mean it's not good.

How is he a genius for making recolor forms and slightly editing already existing characters?
Heck, the Sonic the Hedgehog fanbase is mocked for that kind of garbage.

No I am not. Creating Gods of Destruction and people beyond them was exactly the route Dragonball needed to go. Showing that Goku was not the strongest and 'bestest' thing there is, was also a smart move. The creation of Beerus, a friggen cat based on Toriyama's cat, was also really creative.

As for Saiyan God, Toriyama simply did what he always does, depict characters who don't look powerful as actually being powerful.

His style in Super won't make everyone happy, but it doesn't mean that it isn't good.

Korin was created in that same way, but I am not talking about Beerus, even though I am kind of sick of him due to Toriyama shoehorning him.

Even when he used the ''don't judge the book by it's cover'' theme, the characters still looked threatening and more importantly, were detailed and unique designs, unlike Monaka or that Omni King character or whatever his name is, who even a preschooler could draw.

Recoloring Goku's hair and slightly changing his eyes is just lazy and Blue SSJG is even lazier.

Perfect Cell did not look threatening at all, Semi-Perfect Cell was just hilarious. So I disagree on that point.

Super is obviously directed at a younger audience, and because of that, yes, the characters are fairly creative, genuine and believable. However, if you're focused on the original Manga, which was very violent, you wont' be happy. It still doesn't mean what Super has accomplished isn't anything short of respectable towards the original series.

It has emotion (when Pan was born and Goku was missing her), it has humor (on the occasions when Monaka occurs) and it has action. It has done everything that Dragonball did for me, but if you still feel it's undeveloped, then that's your problem. Millions of people will disagree with you.

Both Cells was still great designs.

The original series is a shonen manga/anime, it was targeted towards kids as well.

Popular=/=good, especially when it's got the Toriyama mark on it, so people will eat that sh*t up.

If you enjoy it, more power to you, but I fail to see any creativity in this new series.

You argued they looked intimidating, they didn't. Yes, they were good designs regardless.

The original Dragonball Z Manga was extremely violent, had swear words and most definitely, wasn't directed towards an audience as young as Super is.

If you read Toriyama's interviews, you'll get a sense of his personality. He's not doing this for the money, he's doing this for the fans.

It was for boys between the ages of 5 and 15.

Beerus, Whis, Vados and Champa? No, they looked tremendous. The re-introduction of the Kaio-Ken as an additive to Super Saiyan? No, that's great. Several different universes with fighters stronger then Goku? Oh, that's brilliant!

It doesn't mean Toriyama didn't think of the ideas himself. He only found out recently that there we fans like us who still analyze the Manga. The man hardly gets out and doesn't even have a computer. Just because we thought of the ideas first doesn't discredit how good the ideas may be.
