You could be right too aHill. But I don't know. I think Vegeta is a bit more fearful than the others would suggest. He's basically shitting his pants. His reaction to that Dende blast is priceless.

Vegeta is a complete psychopath, his plan was to give it a shot and he could always go for a major blast and kill Freeza. Vegeta fires a planet destroying blast down on the planet, twice. Once against Goku and once against Freeza. When things don't go his way, Vegeta is willing to blow up the planet.

I don't think he had to raise his speed, he did it to humiliate him, and show him there was no fight to be had.

Yea the whole reason to transform into his true form was to be way ahead of everyone. He already could have won in his 3rd Form, but he did not like the peasants being able to make him work. So he goes all out and lo and behold, Vegeta is still somewhere in his region, so he says fuck this and blows him out.

Good points. But what about the SSJ? Vegeta is solely clinging into it? Like I said, he doesn't know exactly what a SSJ is, so to assume he was one, he should be pretty strong. Right after being healed by Dende, Vegeta seems to be looking at his hands, basically trying to feel how powerful he has become. After it, he says "Now I'm a Super Saiyan". He seems to come to this conclusion based on his strength.

Well sure, but he also thought Goku at 60k might be one... so it seems clear to me that he is just in delusion about it for the entire arc considering he has no real knowledge of it.

But he speculated it upon seeing how powerful Goku was?

If I'm not mistaken, yeah. He said Goku surpassed Saiyan limits, and that's what he figured the requirement was.

The legend was that a SS would be able to beat Freeza, right? Did he think Goku with a ~60K PL would beat Freeza only because he turned a SSJ?

Where was it said that was the legend? Freeza was never involved when it was initially brought up.

So why is Vegeta clinging so much on the SSJ idea against final form Freeza?

But it's implied the SSJ would be able to beat Freeza, by the way this latter fears them (saying it would be troublesome if they did turn into one), by Vegeta post Zenkai not believing he was being overpowered by Freeza, saying this should be happening since he is a SSJ and by the way Vegeta concludes Freeza was doomed when Goku appeared since he believed him to be the legendary warrior, also reffered by Vegeta as "the most powerfuk in the cosmos".

Freeza has no knowledge of SSJ either, so he's just speaking out of caution. The SSJ is a legendary thing, so even someone with as much power has the right to be scared of a legend.
