That's because by the time he would try to escape, his stamina would have drained considerably.

Piccolo was speaking of his power, it doesn't make sense for him to reffer to his appearance in that scene.

Not only this, but Trunks only had little hope even knowing Goku would train for three years. It's pretty clear the Androids were portrayed as Trunks' superior.

Trunks doesn't have tremendous power that's unlike anything on the planet. That makes them stronger by default. Goku said for Trunks to refer to them as monsters after handling Freeza says a lot. Pretty much everything points to the Androids being out of Trunks weight class with nothing showing the opposite. Trunks being on their level requires you to really try your hardest to go against everything implied. It wouldn't make any sense.
