Okay, but by how much? Does he power up in the middle of the Ginyu fight? By how much? How much power does Ginyu use during the fight? How does the 85k prediction play into all of this?

Goku was about 70,000, maybe. Captain-Ginyu said he could probably get up-to 85,000 and says Goku might think about using his true power to fight Freeza, so 85,000 might have been rather far away from what Goku was currently using.

So 70,000 makes sense, I think.

Ginyu was going in thinking about 60,000, though. I think Ginyu can be quite a bit above 60,000, since he could tell he was better than he even figured, and neither were really losing hard in the fight.

Yeah, but Ginyu could tell from the fight Goku was even better than he first figured. Kind-of hard to tell if the difference isn't that much to begin with.

Like Ginyu expected to be able to defeat Goku with a lot less trouble, but when he fought Goku put up a much better fight than he thought, hence he figured Goku is better than he thought at first.

Could be a skills issue, but then that begs the question, how good did he think he was in the first place? Generally skills are a serious secondary issue to power.

I think Goku being 66,000 is fine. It is a minor alteration.

but what I think Ginyu went into the fight thinking he can defeat him without much trouble (maybe even win easily), because he thought Goku was about 60,000, but unlike what he expected Goku actually puts-up a fight, and they fight nearly evenly, so:

Ginyu - 100

Goku (actual level) - 93

Goku (Ginyu's expectation) - 87

???

It all hinges on when Ginyu decided that he wanted an entertaining fight from Goku. It probably wasn't right off the bat, but it could've been.
