I think they're about the same so Vegetto wins by virtue of better stamina and no time limit. By Super logic SSJ Gogeta would stomp base Vegetto, but fuck Super's logic. I'm pretty sure AT doesn't even remember Vegetto and Gogeta are different characters anyway

Gogeta shouldn’t be too far behind Vegetto, there’s really no reason for him to be.

Nothing supports Gogeta's placement in the Buu Saga other than vague statements, but the main suggestion is that Potara base form should be plenty to win against someone who could be defeated by SSJ Metamoran Fusion (which also is vague as SSJ is refered in general terms such as Old Kaioshin mentioned SSJ as something strainful). But that doesn't tell us how they compete directly on these forms.

Could Base Vegetto resist a punch straight to the face from Janemba (attacking directly the eye which is a very sensible part of the body) without flinching like SSJ Gogeta did?

If your answer is yes, that is subjective. If your answer is no, is subjective too. Having say that, there's no real answer.

Janemba is likely only Base Super Buu level or slighty higher (although that is speculative). SSJ3 Goku doesn't seem that much stronger than his canon self as he remarks Janemba surpassing Fat Buu as something impressive.

I don't think Janemba powered up against Gogeta, sure he was serious unlike with Goku, Vegeta or Paikuhan, but we know that Janemba could receive a blast from SSJ3 Goku without much damage while SSJ3 Goku gets completely damaged, but that's the strongest opponent he faced (aside from Gogeta) and Goku never fought against a Buu other than Fat or Kid, going by fillers, Gotenks Buu completely outperformed Goku and showed better dominance than what Janemba shown. At least, I can say that Janemba doesn't compare with Gotenks absorbed Buu or Gohan Buu.

We also doesn't know if Gogeta actually needed SSJ to tear Janemba apart.

It came out before Super Buu was a prominent part of the story right? The special guidebook said Goku "maybe even defeated Majin Buu" so it might be a parallel reality where Goku destroyed Fat Buu.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes anime showed Kid Buu and Super Janemba exchanging blows near evenly so if we consider that then the anime wank for Goku fighting Buutenks could apply to make Super Janemba comparable to Buutenks by way of scaling off a fat form already stronger than Fat Buu. Like Janemba overall is twice as strong as Fat Buu and Super Buu if the relative gap between his forms are the same as the gap between Fat Buu and Super Buu.

I think it came out when Gotenks and Boo were fighting in the Rosat, but Goku had already sensed and commented on Initial Super Boo’s Ki.

Either way, Gotenks is going to be the strongest Ki before Janemba, and this might be Post Rosat Gotenks since he uses Kamikaze Ghosts.

This guidebook is interesting though. You have a scan or link?

I think the Gotenks vs Boo scan in particular is referencing the main series, not the movie continuity.
