Piccolo would actually formulate a plan for Goku and Gohands to tag team Cell only for Galu to GG life to awaken Gohands' SSJ2 form, after which Cell detonates himself as per canon and instead kills them all.

Yeah, Vegeta will refuse to believe it therefore he'll fight Cell first since the only reason he let Goku to fight first was because he wanted to see Goku's power and plan.

Vegeta gets destroyed, next list is Goku who can force Cell to his limits and possibly might be strong enough to kill him.

Gohan won't be in the tournament if Chi Chi knows Goku's plan.
