Goku had tried to reason with Cell?

[withheldforprivacy]

Right after their fight at Cell Games, before asking Gohan to fight,
Goku decides to try talking Cell out if his plans and says something
like: ''Hey, Cell, you love fighting, don't you? What's the point of
destroying the planet? Why don't you chill here with us, so that we
can fight and have fun everyday?''. Would he have any chance of
convincing Cell?

[Captain Cadaver]

He has too much of Vegeta and especially Freeza in him after becoming Perfect. More than having a good fight, he wanted to prove his dominance which comes to light by his desperation and rants after SS2 Gohan surpassed him. Words wouldn't be capable of reasoning with him, something #16 even made clear to Gohan.
