I agree that Gohan should be stronger, but I feel like we can't just throw away a clear connection here.

I'm saying that when Roshi used the move, Gohan was similar in strength to Goku.

I don't really see Gohan and Roshi fighting each other as old men. I think it's more likely when Gohan was Roshi's student and this probably happened many, many years ago. It seems Roshi's loss of power is more drastic than anyone else. No one has lost power like Roshi has, he probably does absolutely no maintenance training while everyone else does.

Ja, but he had to start somewhere.

Considering Roshi's age, it isn't a huge stretch to say that he's gotten stronger and weaker more than once. Perhaps it was in one of Roshi's weak stages?

Well what I find likely is that it's no coincidence that Tao Pai Pai, Gohan, Tsuru and 22nd Budokai Roshi are all in a somewhat similar plane of power.

Tao Pai Pai is implied to be much stronger than he was when Goku beat him, Gohan is an old ass man and how fucking old is Tsuru?

They are all old bastards that are stupidly strong. If anything, it suggests Roshi's lack of training more than their weakness imo.

It doesn't even seem like Tsuru has fallen off all that much even after all these years. He must train pretty diligently for centuries to even maintain a power anywhere close to his power in his prime.

All in all I'd probably have something like this...

Mutaito > Roshi/Tsuru/Gohan ( All in their Primes ) > Tao Pai Pai ( Prime )

I think in their prime conditions, they can all be around Goku's 22nd Budokai power or better.

Hell, Mutaito in his prime could even be stronger! As an old man he already was a good deal stronger than probably Goku at the 22nd Budokai.

Yea I think it seems implied that Goku, Roshi and Gohan are all on the same plane of power here. We can't predict the future here and assume Roshi had a much higher power previously.

But Gohan getting massively stronger in a couple of years doesn't seem right either.

When exactly did Gohan die? How many years before the manga starts?

No precise timeline was given I believe. Under 11 years and more than 1 year, unless you follow Daizenshuu timelines for that.

Was stated to not be able to handle Bikkuri-sho but was seen holding his own against Goku (Post Karin)... Yes, he improved a lot.

Goku (Post Karin) >= Grandpa Gohan > Toa Pai Pai >>> Goku (21'st Budokai) ~ Jackie Chun >= Uncle Gohan (Back then)

You think they should be ahead of prime Tao? What reasoning do you have for that?

Just seems established that Tsuru is the superior sibling imo.
