Is this the beginning of the end for Beerus' relevance? Will he end-up like Raditz (or Freeza) in DragonBall Z? This changes-up the status-quo quite a bit. No more threatining to destroy Goku or Vegeta when they annoy him. No more threatening Bulma to make or give him some food or destroy the earth. No. Now the days of jobbing and irrelevance have begun for Lord Beerus.

But truth to be told unlike anything I think I ever saw Beerus before, yesterday he looked very serious. He didn't even have any goofy expressions, like when Goku used Kaio-Ken x10 against Hit. Maybe he knows his days as top-cat (see what I did there?) are over.

I agree but it is long overdue. Even just for the sake of story it was hard to take things seriously when we knew they always had Bills to bail them out.

True, but I can't lie. No matter how much it might have annoyed me, I'm going to miss those days of Bills owning everyone and threatining to blow them up, l0l. Now in the next saga he's going to die (before being revived) and talk about how Goku made him a better person and how great and kewl Goku is before being killed by the new big bad.

Beerus will only be fodder if Jiren truly surpasses the GoD level, but he hasn't gone to full power yet so can't confirm at this time. How anybody in the tournament currently could defeat someone on the level of a God is anybody's guess. I'm hoping for some last minute Ultra Instinct Gogeta action.

Beerus' reaction and Whis saying that about a Jiren who wasn't even at full-power definitely seems to imply that even now at least Jiren and Ultra Instinct Goku are on his level, if not above.

Whis said Jiren was "far" from full power, so he knew Jiren was holding back a ton of power when he thought he was the mortal stronger than a GoD. Suppressed Jiren does not have to be anywhere near Beerus.

It's the beginning of the end but also it can changed the whole power scaling with Beerus having a mortal rival now.

Most likely, UI Galu will only be a temporary thing and not something either Goku or Vegeta can access in later arcs, unless at the very end of Super. Goku's power may also motivate Beerus into training seriously.
Beerus definitely won't be fodderised due to how he's been built up from the start. Both his initial conflict with Goku and him giving Freeza the idea to destroy Planet Vegeta being something Vegeta would be mad about if he found out both seem to build him up as the final challenge for Goku/Vegeta in Super.

Beerus' reaction could be down to utter shock that a mortal (in this tournament) would be so powerful, especially not one from Universe 7 where seemingly all the super powerful anomalies are despite the mortal level ranking.

I think this tournament, if Super continues past this arc, will motivate Beerus into taking his training seriously with Whis. Mortals getting so strong as to be able to oppose the Gods in their universe shouldn't happen. That's why they're Gods. If a God of Destruction can't destroy something because a mere mortal stands in his way, that throws off the entire balance of the universe! HAIL ZAMASU!

If you consider the gains made by Freeza, who did nothing but smack around Tagoma for a few months, I'm sure Beerus can make that look like chump change by doing even minimal training.

Give him 5 minutes and he'll surpass Zen-Oh.

I do have to say again though. The way Beerus was in those two episodes, especially once Goku unlocked his new form. He's never been that way. When Goku got his God power-up, not much of a reaction. Seeing Freeza go from fodder tier to God tier, seems somewhat surprised but his demeanour still shows indifference and that he knows who's boss. Even the Kaio-Ken x10 where Beerus was surprised, it was more of a goofy expression and kind-of seemingly shown in a light-hearted way. This episode it was like a silent acknowledgment of "yeah, maybe I'm done". Almost depressing to watch.

At least this will give Beerus a chip on his shoulder from now on instead being a lazy cat like he always does.

Well at-least Beerus had 100+ episodes and two movies of feeling like an actual God, unlike Kaio-Shin who never got started.

Powers increase so fast in DB/DBZ/DBS that every omnipotent guy is already useless by the next saga.
For Beerus to remain omnipotent, his power had to keep being retconned. Without the retcons, he'd
have been yamchafied by FNF saga already.
