How did anyone beat Legacy of Goku 1?

I know for a fact that I've done this once (through 3DS hacked Virtual Console, but no save states) playing through it again after almost ten years, I find myself left wondering how I managed to do it. Each of these early game dogs/wolves must be as strong as Freeza himself.

When I was younger I had more patience I guess. I remember the snakes being almost impossible to see until they attack you. There's no way I could play that trash now. LoG2/Buu's Fury is a different story.

The best strategy I've found is to try to get one dog at a time with chi blasts. It does get easier once you're able to stun enemies.

Lol the snakes. Power level of 400: defeats pterodactyls and bears, takes axes, bullets and rockets...killed by a non-venomous grass snake.

Got to the point where I could reliably kill the wolves, but the dinosaurs keep fucking on me
