How did Shanks stop Kaido?

When Kaido attempted to go to Marineford. How do you think it played out? Shanks obviously arrived without any injuries so an intense fight seems unlikely.

Respectfully talking him out of it somehow or maybe threatening to stop Kaido forcefully, which could've made Kaido decide it's just not worth the hassle.

If Kaido was trying to save Ace, then he could've told him he'll handle it himself or yeh could just be evil Shanks (hope not) or fucked up Shanks wanting to make Luffy go through hardship on the way to being Pirate King. Weird for Kaido not to mention Ace to Luffy if he was trying to save him though.

Wonder if it could have something to do with Kaido's wish to die. Like, telling him that BB or Luffy (more likely BB, since Shanks had experience of fighting him and getting injured so knows he's powerful, plus he might know the nature of BB's special powers and maybe they can somehow kill Kaido. edit: For Luffy it would be that Shanks guesses that the experience of the war will make him reach new heights) might be the one to kill him one day.
