How much does Makankosappo's piercing effect boost it?

A zillion times going by DBS. Piccolo is base level but pierces the U6 Nameks who are SSJB level.

Not sure about Z. Piccolo never tries the Makkankosappo again, but is it because it's too weak or because of charging time?

I think he realized that it had two major weaknesses. 1 Is obviously the ridiculous amount of charging time to release it at full power. And 2, if the opponent is sufficiently stronger they can dodge the attack pretty easily. So not only is it a major waste of energy, the odds of it actually hitting are very low.

The piercing effect definitely adds to it though. I doubt it would have killed Raditz if it was a regular blast like a KHH.

Piccolo fired off the Makankosappo pretty easily without much charge time against Nappa. He likely just began to omit it for the same reason that a lot of characters ceased to use their signature attacks after like the first arc said attack debuts in, e.g. Tenshinhan's Shishinken and Shiyoken, Yamcha's Sokidan, Vegeta's Galick Gun etc. AT just forgot lol. Although in fairness, Tenshinhan and Yamcha don't really have "fights" to speak of in Z unless fighting a Saibaman and always being quickly defeated in every fight after counts.

Everyone dies when they get pierced through the heart. It's like a bullet, where it's powered by speed and "rifling" (as it spirals, it gains speed and momentum). So, doesn't matter how powerful the move itself is, it's about how much momentum it gets from spiraling.

Piccolo is not base tier lol the fuck you doing

He easily choked SS2 Gohan tf out and could fight alongside Mystic. He's most likely in between SS2 and SS3 tier.

That explains the spiral around the beam. Great attention to detail from Toriyama.

But that’s pre training SSJ2 Gohan. Nowhere near Post God SSJ2 Goku.

Probably a noticeable effect, but it surely wasn't the focus in the Raditz arc. Rather, its amount of power was the focus since that's what was drawn attention to, its power level, and not the nature of the attack and its piercing properties. 50% Freeza's death beam could do nothing to SSJ Goku and base Goku parred Freeza death beams with a hand. The main thing about it was the power it held. Beams are dodged many times. Vegeta could dodge final form Freeza's death beams despite being = at most to initial final form Freeza... Gohan dodged all death beams used by Cell, which only served as a distraction for Cell to get Gohan in a bear hug. At the same time though, weirdly enough, the speed is given focus when Piccolo is surprised at Raditz dodging it and Freeza acted like Goku dodging his death beams being absurd when he knew he was too slow for Goku otherwise. Idk. Still, the fact Raditz already sweat bullets when reading it's power and barely dodged it, injuring his shoulder, makes it slightly above Raditz imo, like 18k Vegeta's blast was slightly above Kaioken Goku who barely dodged it making every effort to, or 18 barely dodging SSJ suppressed kid Trunks' blast. I generally take those barely dodging otherwise it'd be fatal, with the focus given on the power and not how piercing it was, as the opponent being slightly below it.

That's why since the Makankosappo was 1,330 I like to see Raditz as 1,250 ~ 1,300.

Were Raditz at 1,500 that would be like Kaioken Goku threatening Vegeta's life by using a laser beam... It wouldn't happen realistically, it needs to carry power at least = to effectively take one's life imo.

So what do you think piercing attacks do? Does it not do extra damage, compared to a normal beam with the same power level? If so, what's the point of developing piercing attacks? If it's only useful when the PL is already enough to kill the enemy, then why not just use a normal beam?

Before makankosappo was fired, Raditz doesn't know it's a piercing attack and not a normal beam. He's shocked at 1330 PL, but was he scared that beam would kill him at 1330 or just scared it would do major damage and more shocked by how much power Piccolo gathered (same as being shocked by the 916 kamehameha)?

17000ish Goku dodging Vegeta's 18000 beam - would that beam have killed him though? Would it put a hole in him, like 1330 makankosappo against Raditz? When did someone take a beam so close to their PL and how badly did they get hurt?

Did Freeza's death beam actually pierce anyone stronger or as strong as himself? Everyone he pierced was much weaker than him. Same goes for dodonpa I think.

I believe Raditz can be as high as 1,350, however.
