why did Toei do rethreads of the 2 movies?
I get it. He needed to come-up with new character-designs, but it'd surely not take that long. A month or 2 at-best to get every-thing sorted if the story is already set, right?! Especially taking into account DB-Super's level of quality anyway. No need to waste almost a year on them. You could start the first actual saga in 10 episodes & have the 1st 10 or so episodes be slice-of-life filler stuff. They did enough with that, stretching-out the movie stories anyway, so you can't say they were trying to just rethread the movies until they can work-out all the new stuff.

AT was the one who suggested to toei that they remake the movies. I guess he wanted a break or some shit

I like slice of life episodes, but starting the whole new series with 10 filler episodes is a terrible idea. Sounds like Toriyama really was too lazy and needed to take a break. Or maybe he wanted to work on the Zamasu and ToP sagas in advance, too.

Personally, I didn't mind it. I think Super has executed slice-of-life episodes relatively well for the most part. Though personally, I guess it does spread the animators quite thin and forced them to rush the animation with so many episodes to produce.
