-Actually showing what consisted of Freeza's training. I don't care about the amount of power he achieves by the end of it all, but actually seeing him putting in his so called ''effort'' would have a far better payoff.
- Play with the idea of Freeza actually obtaining the mindset of a martial artist through the realization of his untapped potential waiting to be utilized through hard work and dedication.
- Just so the concept doesn't get wasted, I'd have Freeza's golden form using some form of God Ki.
- Gohan looked too pathetically weak for my tastes even considering the fact that he doesn't train, to the point where he doubts he can even turn Super Saiyan. I'd have him do battle against Freeza, facing off against all of his forms until he loses to his true form.
- Instead of introducing another recolor form, I'd have Goku show off his mastery in God Ki by tapping into the SSG form (red) on his own. Vegeta would do the same.
- No Whis time manipulation.

In my DBS Rewritten fanfic, I, one way or another, had all strong Z Fighters out of comission during that saga, so the only ones left to fight Freeza were humans and the Androids. I nerfed Freeza's golden form and gave humans some time to shine.

I'm biased as I hate this concept and I don't think I'd enjoy it. That being said:

- give Freeza a better excuse for his massive power gain than just "oh I trained for like four months". I don't care how you do it: Mecha v2, RoSaT, whatever, just something more feasible than that.

- don't make Gohan a complete pansy.

- Leading into the series, I'd have Freeza kill some people and then base an arc around the other world and remaining Z Fighters trying to bring them back, presumably facing some unforeseen circumstances that make it harder than usual. As a stand alone film, I'd have Freeza or his army defeat everyone, including Goku. Freeza still offers Vegeta a spot in his army, and Vegeta accepts, and only when he's close to Freeza he'd stab him through the heart with a cool laser thing, and say — like Arny in Commando — "I lied"

Erkrolo2's RoF fix fic is probably the best version of it.

-Instead of coming back to life in pieces for no reason, Freeza returns to life as Mecha Freeza, but Sorbet halts him with a stop remote similar to that of the Artificial Humans, this is also the reason why Freeza doesn't bring back Cold, since he deigned to install such a feature in his cybernetic body in the first place.

-make it so that whatever the method of Freeza's asspull training consisted of wasn't available at the time of his first death. Like, say, he trains in like 4000G or something and that technology wasn't available when he fought Trunks. This at least makes his training feel less cheap and provides an explanation for why he didn't bother putting in as little effort as a few months' training after spending like a fucking year in the vacuum of space mutilated following a humiliating defeat.

- Freeza's training would also be a year long instead of half a year or 4 months or whatever. Also, the Golden form would be a result of him harnessing Godly ki.

- Gohan can still turn SSJ2, but needs a lot of rage to use his Ultimate form. Let's say Piccolo's death pushes him to this extreme, but he's no match for 2nd form Freeza and just barely manages to buy enough time for Goku and Vegeta's arrival.

- Gotenks also appears instead of being shafted for no reason, but spends too much time playing around with Freeza's soldiers. Also, he's the one to defeat Shisami when Shisami defeats Piccolo, although he defuses afterwards. Ofc, Shisami is an elite mercenary Freeza hired after his training like in AT's original draft instead of a Zarbon tier mook haxed for no reason.

- Goku turns Super Saiyan God instead of Blue and fights Golden Freeza only to end up on the losing end, and to make matters worse the godly form still has a time limit like in the BoG film. Golden Freeza's ki supply depletes fast as well, but he at least doesn't possess a time limit forcing Goku to bank it all on channeling the force of his God form into his Super Saiyan form, unlocking SSJ Blue. In Blue he manages to punch a hole through Freeza's stomach in a single punch, but due to not being used to the transformation it wears off before he can deal the final blow. Freeza then snatches the Senzu Kuririn throws Goku, burns the rest of the Senzu and uses it to once again turn Golden, at which point Vegeta swallows his pride to buy time for Goku to be healed by Dende. Goku is healed, but Dende's healing is insufficient for a user of godly forms and he can only muster the strength to turn SSJG, with significant exhaustion. Goku then teleports back to the battlefield and just barely manage to defeat Freeza with Vegeta's help. No Whis time manipulation necessary.

- the movie then ends with Vegeta vowing to reach and master the Blue form before Goku can and to never need to team up with his nemesis to defeat another threat ever again.
