I mean I guess I’m OK with the darkness and it being shot like that, but too much goth.

I agree it’s not dark at-all compared to other stuff. It can easily be called gate-way level at best, but just its aesthetic and the vibe it gives-off. Can’t really put it into words you just have to look at it and tell by yourself. I mean even L. The constant religious references with crosses (not sure what that has to do with goth but just saying).

Oh now I might know what it was the gothic crosses and symbols. YouTube’d it, then GooGle’d it. That must have been what I thought in my subconscious or something and maybe more.

It's a product of its times, in all honesty I appreciated it for being tastefully goth. Despite the goth monsters, color palette, music, etc, the regular people just dress like normal people. But the goth elements do give it individuality

Do you remember 2006, like at all? L also looks like he has eye-liners or something and his hair and the way his clothes are despite being regular clothes of the time (just the art-style I guess).
I don't know is SSJ rose to gouchi?
Did you just make a joke, my lord? I humbly laughed.

L hardly sleeps that’s why his eyes are the way they are.

Nope. I do not remember early 2000s, but even I can tell when something is different from the current norm

Was there anything like Death-Note at the time? I mean the stuff popular at the time (at-least in some places) was stuff like One-Piece, Naruto and Gin-Tama and so-on. I think I've heard emo culture was big with teenagers in some places, but I wasn't quite a teen then and did not have internet so I wouldn't know really.

Monster is pretty dark. Haven't seen much of Evangelion but I think that predates death note.
