Everything you said here can be said about Tolkien's storytelling too and One Piece has much more mature subject matter than anything Tolkien ever did.Do not be disingenuous, the modern fantasy genre as we know it was created by Tolkien. This is indisputable fact, it is even a running joke about how long Tolkien's shadow is cast on the whole medium. This is not even a bad thing because the fantasy genre as we know it was birthed from his stories and fantasy authors acknowledge it.
I have read One Piece, most of it. To be blunt it is a children's story, the characters are all simplistic and one note. The world while bright and colourful is only ever surface level (especially compared to even the most basic of high fantasy novels which all humiliate it), it's highly formulaic. One Piece isn't a trend setter, it's strength is that it draws from Early Dragon Ball and creates an enjoyable story. But Tolkien's work absolutely dwarfs it in terms of scale and scope.
One Piece with every second page being big spread sheet of "boo hoo" someone just died in the most overdramatic way possible. One Piece with all its dumb Shonen tropes that it never once bothers to subvert. One Piece with its goofy art style, highly structured storylines, is in no way shape or form a serious story. Unless you're a kid.Everything you said here can be said about Tolkien's storytelling too and One Piece has much more mature subject matter than anything Tolkien ever did.
Fantasy genre only exists because of Tolkien's work, there is no mess it's into because of Tolkien. Because before Tolkien it wasn't even on the map.And the Fantasy genre is a mess because they try to emulate Tolkien's racist story. Oh, and if you don't think Tolkien was racist, read-up on what he said about the Dark forces in his garbage story being based on "least lovely Mongol types" and the fact he explicitly said in a BBC interview that he based greedy Dwarves off of Jews.
One Piece doesn't depict any racist stereotypes of Black people. That would be Tolkien, who depicted them all as angry dark monsters who needed to be genocided by the White, Puritan good men based on the British Empire. One Piece with every second page being big spread sheet of "boo hoo" someone just died in the most overdramatic way possible. This is absolutely hilarious considering One Piece is the series that puts racist stereotypes of black people, rather unashamedly too. And it's also a desperate cope that you've been trying to attack Tolkien's work based on "sexism" and "racism".

Are you saying Orcs are black people? That's some racist preconceptions you have on African AmericansThat would be Tolkien, who depicted them all as angry dark monsters who needed to be genocided by the White, Puritan good men based on the British Empire.
Tolkien said Orcs were Mongols and that top picture isn't a racist stereotype. Try actually learning what racism is.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to hide from the fact that One Piece has racist character designs. Almost all black people in OP, are drawn similar to 20th century racial caricatures.Tolkien said Orcs were Mongols and that top picture isn't a racist stereotype. Try actually learning what racism is.
Blame America for exporting that overseas. Better yet, blame Tolkien for not having any Black people in his fiction.Unfortunately, it's impossible to hide from the fact that One Piece has racist character designs. Almost all black people in OP, are drawn similar to 20th century racial caricatures.
Don't care. Oda put it into his work.Blame America for exporting that overseas.
Not having black people in a work is better than portraying them as 20th century Golly wog looking caricatures.Better yet, blame Tolkien for not having any Black people in his fiction.
Yes it does. They're portrayed with big - comically sized red lips, similar to 20th century racial stereotypes. Undeniably racist. And no, it doesn't. That would be Mr. Popo, not anything in One Piece.
Just admit you're wrong and stop embarrassing yourself.Don't care. Oda put it into his work.

One Piece is the greatest fantasy story ever told in human history.

Never read it. Didn't that series get ruined by Brandon Sanderson? I read Sanderson's Warbreaker and it was godawful. That guy doesn't understand politics and his worldbuilding is terrible. Don't even get me started on the dialogue. If you for a moment think Sanderson has anything above Eiichiro Oda's amazing writing skills, I'll know for sure that you can't be taken seriously.WoT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> One Piece
Sanderson isn't the author, Robert Jordan is. Sanderson only wrote the last books in the series because Robert Jordan passed away. And Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time absolutely blows One Piece out from the orbit in literally every category. Conveniently its also in the shitty post LotR fantasy you ragged on, for some strange reason.Never read it. Didn't that series get ruined by Brandon Sanderson? Japanese writers are smooth brained. Robert Jordan is 1 million times smarter than the most intellectual NipponNah, Oda is better than any Western fantasy writer. Westerners aren't intellectual enough to surpass any of the great Japanese writers.
