Is there a manga/anime with a real end-game?

The story started with many and now it’s really come down to the last 2/3/4/5. The last chess-pieces. Think of it maybe in the same way the first Harry-Potter the three children go down (where-ever that was) and in the end it’s Harry Potter left only to face Voldemort face-to-face.

One-Piece doesn’t really count, unless maybe the final island really does only have Mugiwara-tachi and who-ever else is there to fight them, as everyone-else has fallen by then. Just mano-e-mano. No marines, no allies, no-one but them. Even then only maybe.
