I loved it. Spent a ton of money buying some of those books despite them being in jappo. But I can't say if it is better because I'm not sure if we have the same taste. It had a bunch of great designs like SSJ3 Vegeta and SSJ4 Gohan, both of which are what made me read the series. Oob was a main character. It did the bulk of the story without Goku. Overall, I much preferred it as a sequel to GT and keeping much of that look rather than continuing Z and making all new transformations like God and Blue.

the reason i wanted to read post dragon-ball gt material i think is because dragon-ball gt ending is kind-of sad (maybe even depressing) i think, so i wanted to see how life went-on for them after, especially main-heroes & maybe 100-year time-skip to see older characters still alive i think.

the villain jst appeared i think & on the same page of appearance says he is goku's son like almost literally, like a guide-book entry or some-thing i think l0l.

Yep.

I agree about the GT ending. Well done but bitter-sweet. Though the Young-Jiji version mostly stays with the side characters so there isn't a lot of resolution in that department.

Pre. It picks up soon after where GT ended, maybe a year later? Pan looks pretty much the same.

i see i think. toyotaro's seems a-few years after goku is grown-up again, but goten goes to college which seems weird because he was already 22 in dragon-ball gt i think.

AF is as typical of a fanfic as you can get, but it's still far better than Super by virtue of not ruining every returning character or the quality of most past arcs. The only aspect of previous material AF ruins is the end of the Evil Dragons Arc by Goku needing to return to fix problems which, whilst an obviously poor handling of the consequences of that arc, doesn't do anywhere near as much damage to the Dragon Ball story as a whole as even one of Super's arcs.

His reasoning for more or less quitting it is because he was was hired to be the manga writer for the Dragon Ball arcs Victory Mission manga series. In one of his final chapters of the manga, he released this tidbit closing out his run.

…So, due to a variety of circumstances, I have been unable to continue drawing Dragon Ball AF.
But it’s a work I feel an attachment to, since I did get my start writing with it, and all.
No matter how many years it takes, I intend to keep writing. I hope you’ll find it in your hearts to look on it fondly.
— Toyble, 10 August 2013
With this departure message (depicting a silhouette of Beat, the main character of VM) as well as Ii Shinlon mentioning "Toyble" (the ruler of AF's world) leaving for elsewhere, it's clear that his reason for departing was because he was hired to work on Victory Mission.

As far as what format it was released in (I'm fairly certain it was just on a chapter by chapter basis on his blog page) and when exactly it came out, I'm not sure.
