In Z Goku it's implied and probably outright stated that Galu is stronger than Vegeta because he fights for others (Earth, random people like Suno and Upa, original DB crew, Z fighters, Namekians). Vegeta now fights for others, like Cabba, Bulma and Trunks (in that order of importance lel).

Does he fight for others too? Like all of Earth? Or for Goku?

He should be as powerful as Goku now.

I think the gap has basically closed at this point. Vegeta winning their last sparring match before Super Hero, plus Ultra Ego standing as a genuine rival to Ultra Instinct, shows he's not playing catch-up anymore. The "fighting for others" angle feels more like thematic flavor to me — what really mattered is that Vegeta stopped measuring himself against Goku and found his own path with Ultra Ego. That's when he truly caught up.
