Just finished Chapter 367 while goofing off at work since I'm still an intern and they don't bother me with too much paperwork at my job. Just got to the point where Usopp started to use his Sogeking disguise, will likely reread a few chapters a day until I get current since most chapters are in full color now and much more bearable!

Just finished volume 39, at chapter 378 now. Luffy about to solo his way through the 10,000 faggot soldiers on the courtyard of Eines Lobby. I don't expect this fight to be good but at least it'll be nice to relive Luffy's first activation of his Gears. Can't wait to shit on Gear 4th and the other asspulls he uses in Part 2 too.

Finished volume 40 yesterday, gonna get into the 400s soon chapter wise. I'll probably finish CP9 this weekend, and then next weekend it's Thriller Bark I will finish. After that I guess we're heading into the final chapters of Part 1.

Just finished chapter 415, Zoro's fight with Kaku is about to begin in earnest. Gotta say that Sanji's flaming leg attack came out of left field and wasn't wholly necessary to beat the wolf faggot really. A bunch of well-timed kicks after the wolf was taken by surprise when Sanji caught onto his white lie would've been enough, it would've been more dramatic had it been unlocked while fighting Moriah and the giant zombie or against Kuma. Definitely gonna finish CP9 this weekend, after that it's Thriller Bark time.

Got up to chapter 431, the beginning of the Thriller Bark saga. Merry Go saving the crew was possibly the biggest asspull in the series and Luffy getting up from life threatening injuries with Usopp's pet talk despite taking significantly more damage than Lucci is convenient, but I suppose you could say being made of rubber helped dampen the amount of extreme damage he took and the Going Merry funeral is perhaps the most emotional moment in the series thus far. Gonna watch it animated on Youtube, and get started on Thriller Bark tomorrow or next week.

What’s your favorite part so far?
Alabasta probably. The tension in the CP9 saga dies down when you remember that Luffy only wins against Rob Lucci due to a resolve hax from Usopp's pep talk and Going Merry randomly grows sentient to save the day.

Gonna get to Nightmare Luffy by the end of the week.

Going to get to volume 51 or so this weekend. Thriller Bark is really heating up, Usopp defeated Perona (in a manner that makes sense unlike his later battle with the toy bitch) and Zoro is going up against the zombie who is using Brook's shadow.

@Future Warrior So, I'm at the end of the Thriller Bark episode with the Oz (Moria) vs. Nightmare Luffy battle about to start, and seeing as the battle against Moria was essentially the first in a long series of events that led up to the climactic battle on Wano country that ended in Kaido's epic defeat (from what I hear), should I make the effort of trying to catch up as soon as possible? I've been unmotivated to do it since I'd already read all of Part 1 years ago and didn't find Dressrosa all that great, but the third act of Wano seems to be the most highly received OP arc in ages and I've admittedly deep down always waited for Luffy to reach Yonko or Pirate King tier because I loved Part 1 OP despite how much flak I gave OP afterwards.

I have some time to kill with having nothing to do but work for the next 10 days, so at a pace of reading about 50 chapters per day, I can be less than 100 chapters behind the newest chapter, which I honestly prefer when OP is usually better read in bulk.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but I don't think there is a lot of good things to say about Wano. Dressrosa, Zou, and WCI are arcs that I genuinely do like, can't say the same for Wano. Then again maybe if I binged it it would be better.

I can't really say if it's worth reading from your perspective as it depends on the person. I've heard people say WCI >>> Dressrosa as commonly as I've heard people say Dressrosa >>> WCI. You might enjoy only one of those arcs or neither.

Maybe if you read Dressrosa binged, and still absolutely hate it, then there is not much point in continuing. If you at least found something enjoyable out of it even you don't like it, then it's probably worth reading further.

@Future Warrior I hear the first two acts of Wano are bad but it picked up in the third act, is that the general consensus or mostly true in your opinion?

I think act 1 is the best. I think the people that say that about act 3 is because it has a lot of fights (most of them are mediocre), some reveals, and new power ups. A lot of people simply eat up hype. The actual story is pretty subpar for One Piece standards imo.

Was Luffy's sudden boost to Yonko tier through Gear 5 adequately explained? Or did it feel like some Namek Zenkai spam or DBS type of thing where he had to rapidly reach (close to) his full potential because they were fighting an unsurmountable enemy

Well, Luffy was already Yonko level before Gear 5 through Haki. He just simply needed that extra boost from awakening to push him past Kaido.

Speaking about Gear 5 specifically, it's not really explained how exactly he achieved it. He seemed to have temporarily died which may have sparked it. In a way, yeah, it was through fighting a strong enemy that he evolved.

Wasn't he only at the level of Big Mom's right hand man in the previous arc? Did he grow steadily stronger through this whole saga or what?

He got 3 power ups in Wano. This arc he experienced the biggest growth by far in the series.

Is it explained why the WG didn't just go up and demolish the Wano country with all their might? I heard they were more deeply involved with poneglyphs and the erased history than any other island to date, so it seems strange that they weren't hit with about 200 Buster Calls.
