Realistically Goku was the only one who could put up a fight against Boo. Vegeta was fodder. No one had to say that outright because it went without saying. Vegeta was only able to be "useful" against Boo when trying to distract him because Boo was toying with him. Someone incompetent like Kibitoshin wouldn't be much help even if stronger than Vegeta.

Vegeta is one of the top 3 masters in this world and the next. He's clearly superior to Kibitoshin.

Vegeta was able to stall for Goku. Kibitoshin even in the anime is only suggested to be able to stall for a second whereas Vegeta can stall for a minute.
