Kuririn became a Saiyan?

In this scenario, just after receiving the warning about the Artificial Humans, Kuririn realises he won't be able to catch up with the power gap forming when he's far below Gohan, nevermind a Super Saiyan. He uses the Dragon Balls and foregoes his pride as an Earthling to wish to be a Saiyan (assume it can be done based on biological changes such as immortality being within the DB's limits as well as it being possible in XV2 for the player character). With one of the most skilled martial artists in the series now being given the abilities of a Saiyan, how does the story unfold from here?

I guess it would completely depend on how well he was able to abuse the Zenkai mechanic. Given that Karin was only able to produce small numbers of senzu beans in Z, I don't think he'd have the opportunity to abuse zenkais. How would he be able to heal in near death situations? Even assuming he was able to get healed, would he be able to become a Super Saiyan? What would be the catalyst for the transformation during the 3 year gap? Unless becoming a Saiyan completely changed his personality, I can't see Krillin possessing enough rage to acquire the transformation in these circumstances. If not, he will be lucky to surpass the other Base Saiyans in that short amount of time.

Considering his action in this scenario was to get rid of such a wide power gap, I'd assume he'd ask Goku how to become one, essentially leading to Goku offering SSJ training to him as well as Gohan far earlier than the Rosat. Kuririn is also a skilled fighter capable of visualising things well in image training and has a few things he'd know would trigger his rage (eg. Yamcha's death against the Saibaiman), so he could probably attain the form quicker than Gohan did due to his greater experience in such categories.

Kuririn would have more of a desire to get stronger so I would imagine he would have participated with Goku, Gohan and Piccolo in their sparring matches. From this I can see Kuririn being stronger than in Canon but I think he will still be the weakest Saiyan and since he won't have SSJ he will still be irrelevant in the Artificial human fights, only difference is his pride won't let him just stand there and he would probably attack #17 and #18 with the others and get quickly one shotted.

The barely conscience Kuririn gives himself a Senzu bean and gives everyone else one. Kuririn getting a noteball Zenkai is unlikely given Vegeta and Trunks didn't receive one. Kuririn considers going in the ROSAT but when told only two people could go in at a time and the father and son Saiyans already calling dibs, Kuririn instead goes with the now Kami fused Piccolo to fight the cyborgs despite his astronomically lower power level. Piccolo tries to tell him that he will just get in the way but Kuririn insists that he has a score to settle and the 5 leave Kame house.

Piccolo fights #17 and Kuririn fights #18 to make sure she doesn't help 17. #18 doesn't even use a fraction of her power to fight Kuririn and easily fends of his attacks but despite being capable of killing the little bald Saiyan in an instant she can't bring herself to fight seriously and hurt or kill him, Kuririn also starts falling for 18 and tells her that he can sense that she's not as bad as he was told, telling her that she can still change her ways. 18 blushes and thinks about this for a moment.

Cell then comes upon them. Like in canon, he oneshots Piccolo, has an even fight with #16 before absorbing 17. Semi Perfect Cell critically injuries 16., Ten then shows up and distracts Cell with the Kikoho long enough for Kuririn and 18 to escape. Cell finds them but Vegeta and Trunks arrive fresh from their ROSAT training. Yamcha is given the remote to shutdown #18 to prevent Cell from reaching his perfect form. Kuririn spots Yamcha with the remote and begs him not to press the button. Yamcha complies and Cell ends up absorbing 18 like in canon.

Kuririn horrified and enraged by the sight of this becomes a Super Saiyan. Kuririn's base however was weaker than even Gohan so as a SSJ he's only Yardrat Goku level which is an ant compared to Perfect Cell so Kuririn's attacks do just as much damage as in canon and Cell breaks his neck with a single kick, just like canon. Trunks gives Kuririn a senzu bean and Cell defeats Vegeta, Trunks also gets defeated after using the Stage 3 SSJ. Kuririn still outraged goes SSJ and prepares to take on Cell attacking him Cell blocks his attack with his finger, Cell amusingly says "You made me use my finger this time. Incredible how an Earthling became a Saiyan and you now get stronger from near death. Incredible you are probably stronger than #18 now.". Cell impressed by the Saiyans improvements decides to wait 10 days and hold the Cell Games.

Sensing half of Goku's SSJ power after his ROSAT trip and growing somewhat envious of how powerful his friend has gotten takes the ROSAT with Piccolo. SSJ Kuririn is at #17 level so him and Piccolo have an even sparring match.

The Cell Games start. Kuririn's power has shot up but he is the weakest Super Saiyan but not much weaker than SSJ Vegeta/Trunks and slightly stronger than Piccolo. He is able to somewhat hold his own against a Cell Jr but would have been defeated if SSJ2 Gohan didn't kill it. Goku still dies, Gohan still kills Cell and Kuririn still wishes the bombs removed from the twins.

Timeskip to Boo arc.

18 and Kuririn are married but this time both of them have gotten much stronger due to Kuririn's desire to always train and using 18 as his regular sparring partner. SSJ Kuririn is in-between SSJ Goten/Trunks and the now rusty SSJ Gohan. Kuririn takes along with the others in stopping Babidi and his men however he still gets turned to stone by Dabura's spit. After being freed, witnessing how powerful Boo is and frustrated by how much more powerful Goku and Vegeta are than him, Kuririn goes into the ROSAT while Goten and Trunks work on the fusion.

Upon Super Boo showing up at the lookout, Kuririn challenges him in effort to buy time for Goten and Trunks train in the ROSAT. SSJ Kuririn isn't even at SSJ Goku level and gets his shit wrecked by a Boo not even using a fraction of his power. 18 steps in and Boo turns her into candy and eats her and does the same to everyone on the lookout, outraged Kuririm unlocks SSJ2 which makes Boo amused by how much stronger he's gotten but he still does no damage to Boo and Boo beats him easily and prepares to kill him before Gotenks shows up now out of the ROSAT.

Since Goten and Trunks were able to train longer this time, SSJ3 Gotenks holds a big advantage against Super Boo but Gotenks personality makes him unable to kill Boo before the time limit runs out and the arc resolves the exact same way as in canon only with Kuririn never dying and witnessing all the Boo fights.

Still becomes irrelevant.
Literally this - he might be relevant for half an arc, but he'd still end up being worthless. People say being Saiyan means your relevant, but if anything, the vast majority of Saiyan characters (with the sole exception of Goku, Vegeta and maybe Broly) are completely irrelevant to the story.

For starters, Tenshinhan would do it too.
He wouldn't. Unlike Kuririn, Tenshinhan has a great amount of pride in fighting as an Earthling to the point of not even wanting to wear the same outfit as Vegeta and desires to get better purely by his own abilities, whereas Kuririn is somewhat more pragmatic.

Krillin at the point of the warning was already stronger than Ginyu Saga Goku, so, taking into account Goku's last zenkai, I don't think he'd need more than one senzu bean to reach the millions. Over the following years, he eventually catches up with the top fighters, at least in base form, though I don't think he would become so obsessed with the transformation as to achieve it during the 3 year period the way Vegeta did. Alas, he remains a non factor during the first part of the saga, during which the events go as we know.

Most likely, he gets angry enough to unlock SSJ when Cell absorbs Eighteen. He attacks Cell in his new form and gets stomped all the same. When the Cell Games are announced, he goes into the spirit room, the first time alone to transcend the SSJ form the way Goku/Gohan did, the second time with Trunks as a sparring partner. I'm not sure whether he can fully master the SSJ as Goku, but, considering the OP implies he is the most skilled fighter, let's say he does. Therefore, by the Cell Games, he's at least close to Goku's level. Trunks also is considerably stronger than in canon.

When Cell releases the Cell Jrs, Krillin and Trunks manage to kill them before they do serious damage, so Gohan does not get mad. Seeing how powerful Trunks and Krillin are, Cell decides to go full power and attack the Z Fighters himself. With Cell being busy with that, Sixteen's head does not die, though someone has to die for Gohan to go SSJ2. For simplicity sake, let's say it's his closest friend, Krillin.

Gohan goes SSJ2 and the fight goes as in canon. With Krillin not being there, Vegeta kills Eighteen while she's unconscious. When Cell returns, he gets killed as in canon.

Shenron can revive neither Goku nor Krillin, but they both are cool; Goku wants to train in the Otherworld and Krillin starts a relationship with Eighteen, who also is dead. As a result, he does not train as hard as Goku, though he still unlocks SSJ2 during the 7 years.

Seven years later, Goku and Krillin both return, with Eighteen remaining in the Otherworld. Krillin follows the rest of the Z Fighters to Babidi's lair. Back in the tournament, Mighty Mask (Goten/Trunks) defeats everyone (including Mr Satan) before his identity is exposed and wins the tournament.

At Babidi's spaceship, Krillin dodges Dabura's saliva and gets in the spaceship too. He takes Gohan's place against Dabura and wins. Goku and Krillin return to the Otherworld.

7 years later, Beerus does not get angry, though Bulma still befriends Whiss. Eventually, Vegeta becomes his student and the next God candidate. Freeza is defeated by Vegeta, with the help of Whisses time reversal. U6 wins the U6/U7 tournament. No Zamasu Saga. Perhaps, when Zeno appears at the tournament, he befriends Vegeta instead of Goku and Vegeta eventually somehow convinces him not to erase any universes.

whilst i think i agree with kuririn still being irrelevant, i don't think i agree with this.

gohan is still relevant for most of the series & still kind-of is i think. u6 saiyans, obvsly i think. future-trunks to a some-wot lesser extent i guess but still i think. goten & trunks via fusion for the last saga that mattered i think.

outside of maybe nappa & raditz & tarble, they are i think relevant.

Gohan isn't relevant in DBS, neither is Trunks, or Goten. If we're referring to the original series it's a different matter, butt dragon ball super is a different beast
