Fullmetal Alchemist.

Certainly not as focused on action, but still shonen nonetheless. This was the first anime I watched after DBZ, and I thought it was the best thing ever.

While it isn't a battle shonen, I feel Slam Dunk should also be mentioned. It's a classic like DBZ, and is also good.

Actually, Toriko's sales are quite exceptional, despite the anime's poor standing. For a series that's only gone on for 7 years, it's sold more than any other of that time period (other than Shingeki no Kyojin). 2 million copies were sold in between last year and this one, which is almost as impressive as OP's annual sales.
The sales are still poor in comparison to the popularity.

Easily Yu Yu Hakusho. Characters and action are similar, though Yu Yu Hakusho tends to get a little deeper with its themes and interesting complexities
