Howdy ya'll.

Sorry to go full newb here but I've been out of the loop since the end of the ToP. Would anyone be kind enough to provide a quick and basic rundown of everything that's happened since? I plan to go digging through some threads and wikis, but I'd rather have it broken down for me by some of you who are more used to dealing with my low-IQ need for special treatment. I hadn't even realized Super was still going, if not for all this Vegeta hype I see popping up everywhere.

A couple additional questions:

1) Does Super go right from the ToP into Moro?

2) Is this still something Beerus or Whis could handle but won't?

3) Is this something UI or Fusion could handle but they won't do it for reasons?

4) What's up with all this Vegeta hype I'm seeing all over YouTube and Twitter? He's supposed to surpass Goku, learn a new technique (Instantaneous Movement?) and defeat Moro...but as a veteran fan this seems like what we've seen before with Cell Saga RoSaT Vegeta. That is to say, temporary upgrade. I'd love to be wrong here but even from a distance this seems overhyped.

Thankee for any help. :shc

5) Also where is Freeza and 17, who should be able to help with this?

1. Not right into it in terms of chronology (there's several months between them in which the Broly movie is fit in, though that's not required viewing right now when it's played no role beyond a throwaway line), but is still basically a direct continuation, with the Broly movie serving more as filler for now.

2. Yes. It's revealed why Whis won't handle it (or any threat in the future, for that matter), whereas Beerus was unaware of Moro at first and then after becoming aware of him, he still does nothing because...plot.

3. At first, yeah, though circumstances prevented either from being an option. UI Sign becomes used later on, but it isn't enough to be the decisive factor by the time it's used due to Moro getting stronger.

4. You're not wrong. It was indeed temporary hype, and came at the cost of character consistency when Vegeta's motivations were reset to those of his Cell Arc self to the point Piccolo comments on how Vegeta now fighting for something beyond himself and Vegeta saying he's evil enough to still go to Hell, despite...literally everything about his character development in the Boo Arc :cena.

5. #17 actually does help with this, though the villains have gained so much power at that point he can barely do anything of worth. Freeza has no real reason of aligning with the Dragon Team as of yet when Moro hasn't directly targeted his empire yet.

Thanks CC, always clutch when you are needed.

I read a synopsis of the Moro arc after you answered my questions, so I was able to keep things together in my head a bit more. I did see Broly, which I forgot to mention, but like you said, it's really filler when compared to the before and after.

Thoughts and further questions after getting caught up. Let me know what you think about any of this...

Beerus won't get involved because he says none of the planets being destroyed have good food. Then Moro comes for earth and nothing changes there.

Yeah, Vegeta gets cucked as I expected. The only reason I looked into what's going on is because of all the Vegeta hype I saw online. Apparently I'm the only one who's ever seen the show before because I called it. Gullible weebs thought the process wasn't going to repeat itself. All the way down to Piccolo giving the same speech he gave about Majin Vegeta self destructing against Boo. And the same speech he gave when Vegeta self-destructed against Toppo. I'm guessing this ends with Goku achieving MUI and defeating Moro.

Personal Gripe: Vegeta trains on Yardrat to learn Instantaneous Movement. The teacher tells him they don't teach techniques but rather train the spirit which allows them to use various moves like IM, Multiform, and growing giant. Growing GIANT. We could have had a fifty-foot Vegeta and nobody writing this story thought that would be cool. Lame. I don't even care if it makes sense.

As for 17, I get that he's irrelevant compared to Goku, Vegeta and Moro, but he won the ToP and could at least bother Jiren a little bit. He should be higher up than the rest of the crew but is instead relegated to fighting the goon squad alongside the rest. He should be elevated a bit more than that, maybe between top tier and the rest of the crew.

Lastly, a passing thought, but if Moro can absorb energy from all these planets, can't Goku summon a spirit bomb and absorb it back?

Probably. Either that, or Boo will play some role in beating Moro, considering things such as Dai Kaioshin's memories resurfacing will need to get reset like all consequences in Super to fit with the EoZ.

He does actually singe Moro using teamwork with #18...despite literally not being able to budge Moro's henchman beforehand :punk.

Not really. The energy would still belong to Moro in the same way the lives and fighters Cell and Boo respectively absorbed. Even after Vegeta removed the absorbed energy with his new Spirit Fission technique, most of the planets Moro had absorbed energy from were already destroyed, making New Namek the only one Galu could really use (and the Namekians' genki wasn't even enough to defeat Pure Boo, let alone Moro).
