I am not going to say Gohan was a SSjin vs Broli because art and common TOEI logic proves he was SSjin 2 but there is something that bothers me.

The fact that Gohan starts his fight in base and not as a SSjin. Should not that imply he was just a SSjin vs Broli? Why the hell starting his fight in base and not as a SSjin? M12 Goku also starts his fight in base but he still goes SSjin 2 before going SSjin 3.

Also going by the plot, it makes no sense he was a SSjin 2. It's made clear that Gohan and Goten were the main power that killed Broli (Goku was just giving support energy like he did with Gohan vs Cell) and yet they defeated him. If Broli was beyond SSjin 2 Gohan so how can he be beaten by him and Goten who is just SSjin level? This is just stupid plot hole in the movie.

No. He started in base against Dabura in the anime, yet the anime also makes it pretty apparent that he was SS2 in the anime with the narrator stating several times how Gohan was using his full power.

Have you forgotten that near enough half the movies or more have the Saiyans start off in base against opponents their SSJ forms are necessary for?

M12 Goku also starts his fight in base but he still goes SSjin 2 before going SSjin 3.
False equivalence. We see within the series that SS3 takes for more effort to go into than SS3.

This runs on the assumption Goten's power held equal value in the beam struggle, something not suggested at all. Also, saying Broly was beaten by them is a twisting of the scene when Trunks distracting him and using this opportunity to push Broly into the sun was the reason for his demise, with him clearly dominating them in the struggle prior.

The Dabura fight is not a solid example though because TOEI probably went by the logic that Gohan uses one form vss Dabura

Yes the movies always have base saiyans starting their fight but that's when they have one transformation available. In movie 9 Gohan first goes SSjin 2. In movie 12, Goku goes SSjin 2 before going SSjin 3. In movie 13, Goku goes SSjin 2 and only goes SSjin 3 in the end.

You can argue Gohan went SSjin 2 without going SSjin vs Broli because it's based on his transformation vs Kibito.

If Goten was not that relevant then it makes it even further idiotic. Goku specifically tells Gohan and Goten that they can win by their own like he did with Gohan when he clashed with Cell

Which is no different from the Broly fight.

The Movie 9 and 13 examples were purely for padding out the film's runtime with those forms being integral in defeating the villain, something not the case with Movie 10.

You can argue Gohan went SSjin 2 without going SSjin vs Broli because it's based on his transformation vs Kibito.
Or because him going straight to SS2 is the logical thing to do when he wasn't suggested to have issue using it at will in the anime, you know, something actually based on in-universe evidence and not these pointless meta comparisons.

If Goten was not that relevant then it makes it even further idiotic. Goku specifically tells Gohan and Goten that they can win by their own like he did with Gohan when he clashed with Cell
We're shown that they couldn't though due to Trunks and the sun being integral in Broly's defeat, so the most likely reason is Goku just trying to motivate them.
