I always thought the movies were their own thing, but this clears up why some feats don’t line up unless you mesh them with the anime or manga timelines. Broly’s new scaling makes more sense now. Also, the power jumps remind me how some phim hentai plots go from zero to a hundred with no warning—wild but kind of funny when you line it all up chronologically.
