1. Chapter 113
Context: In the tournament's gymnasium.
Yamcha: Do you think Goku's gotten stronger over the last 3 years?
Krillin: Who knows? He doesn't look too different.

From their anxious expressions, we can judge they hope that Goku isn't too different from 3 years ago, so that they can beat him. This shows
they're not hugely above the last Goku they saw...
Goku (3 years ago)- 100
Goku (initial hopes)- 110
Yamcha- 120
Krillin- 125

2. King Chappa, just like Taopaipai, is a reputation beast. Alas, when he first shows up, Krillin and Yamcha seemingly treat him like an
opponent themselves have little chance of beating. Of course, Goku has surprised them with his gains in the past, so they figure he
can once more win with a miracle...
King Chappa (rumors)- 135
Goku (expected miracle)- 130

3. When the fight starts, King Chappa turns out to be inferior to his reputation, but the power Goku displays is still greater than the
''not too different'' Krillin/Yamcha hoped and enough to make them doubt about their chances of winning the tournament, since they
shudder to think how much more Goku has to show. Krillin goes as far as to interrogate Goku, hoping, in his head, that Goku will
confirm that was all his power...
King Chappa (reality)- 108
Goku (initial)- 120
Yamcha- 120
Krillin- 125

4. As Krillin feared, Goku has more power to show, but we don't know yet how much more, so Krillin still has a slim hope to somehow
defeat an opponent slightly superior to himself. The power Goku starts with against Krillin is what the dwarf hoped to be after hearing
the post Chappa statement; superior to his, but not to an extent there is nothing he can do. After deluding his friend for a while, Goku
begins to show his true power...
Krillin- 125
Goku (vs Krillin/initial)- 135
Goku (vs Krillin/serious)- 150 and increasing

5. During the first round of their bout, Yamcha and Tien are equal. When Yamcha uses WFF2, he increases his speed to an extent he's
even with a more serious Tenshinhan, but his other stats stay the same. Alas, when a Tien's blow connects, it does much more damage
than a Yamcha's blow would do to Tien. Thus, Yamcha is being pushed back...
Yamcha- 120
Tenshinhan (round 1)- 120
Yamcha (WFF2)- 144
Tenshinhan (round 2)- 150

6. Yamcha resorts to KHH, which is not necessarily superior to WFF2 as a mere number; instead of a speed increase, it's an explosive
wave. Tenshinhan deflects it by some defensive technique...
Yamcha (KHH)- 150
Tenshinhan- 150

7. Tenshinhan and Roshi raise their powers during their bout, surpassing Crane Master...
Tenshinhan (round 1)- 150
Roshi (round 1)- 150
Crane Master- 165
Tenshinhan (round 2)- 180
Roshi (round 2)- 180
Roshi (unseen max)- 200

8. It is stated Goku's match level might be superior to Roshi. FP Tenshinhan has a small advantage over Match Level Goku and a small
disadvantage against FP Goku...
Goku (match level)- 210
Tenshinhan (max)- 225
Goku (max)- 240

Depends who his opponent is. I think his fight with Tien showed the gap Match Level/FP is not huge.
It is huge. Goku got back-up because of his amazing durability.

Tenshinhan did not seem to have a great advantage over Match Level Goku. He managed to land a series of hits because he caught Goku
off guard with his 3 eyes being able to see through the multiple images.

He did have a huge advantage. Tenshinhan also didn't seem to be fighting that seriously at the beginning, more casually, yet he was still able to defeat Match-Level Goku really fast.

-Goku said Tenshinhan was going for the kill, so he was fighting seriously.
-Tien said he ''might have an enjoyable fight'' even before finding out that Goku's match level was not his full power.
-Roshi, who's at Match Goku level, says FP Tenshinhan would ''probably win'' if their fight had continued.
All the above imply a small gap.

He was going for the kill, but it didn't seem he was truly fighting at full-effort until Goku went all-out. The fight also ended fast, so there's really no way to tell, since Tenshinhan won so fast.

Facepalm...he didn't win anything, he only got some free hits because Goku didn't expect Tien's three eyes would see through his multiple
images.

Yes, he did. On-top of that both Master-Roshi and Tenshinhan thought that was it for Goku when Tenshinhan finished his attack.

This has been thought many times in Dragonball (ex. King Piccolo vs Goku, Piccolo Jr vs Goku, Taopaipai vs Goku).

Except in this case, there's nothing to disprove it. Other than that, please look at what all the examples you just listed have in common. That's right, they were all Goku. Goku has always shown to be more durable than what his power might indicate in DragonBall.

None of these fights were one shot gaps.
This happened in different situations, too not only close fights.

Like Tao thinking he killed Goku in the first fight.

So, one thinking he killed someone does not tell anything about the true gap.
It doesn't, but Tenshinhan was clearly shown to be quite a-bit superior to Match-Level Goku. There's even a-bit of a "That's it?" re-action from the audience and Kuririn and so-on. They couldn't believe Goku lost so easily.

In the anime even the narrator said Goku lost easily.

They just thought he was passed out because that's what it seemed so. Then, Goku stands up.
Nah, I feel like that's down-playing Tenshinhan's clear lead.
