You do realize this scene is based on the same scene with Cell right? I have used all the evidence needed anyway.

Lol such failure logic. Movie 8 is based on the Perfect Cell Arc. Vegeta's kick vs Broli is based on the kick he gave Cell because it's the same Vegeta. Just like in movie 4, Goku kills Slug's henchmen like he did with the Ginyu Force because Movie 4 is based on the Ginyu Arc and Slug's henchmen are around Jiece, Burter and Recoome.

"Koyama san, what was the idea behind Broli's design?"

Koyama: "When I wrote the script for Broli, I wanted his design to be reflected by his psychopathic properties, so I thought I should make him look scary."

"He really resembles Future Trunks when he transformed into that buff state against Perfect Cell. Is there a connection?"

Koyama: "Well, at the time I created Broli, the anime was still during the climax of the Cell so I can say the form Trunks was using in the fight with the Cell gave us the inspiration."

"What about Gohan in movie 10? Was he a Super Saiyan 2 while fighting Broli becuase it was hard to tell"

Koyama: "In the "Dangerous Duo", Gohan was using the strongest form he had at that point. However he was not as strong as he was when he fought Cell becuause he didn't like to train. Broli is the mightiest saiyan after all."
