Wano really killed a lot of the hype for One Piece didn’t it?

How do you rank it?
I’d have to reread it, but the GA arc is still pretty much a 10/10 to me. There are some issues but they’re so minute that they don’t really factor in for me. Probably the biggest “flaw” is that Muira’s art doesn’t peak until after this arc, but it’s still among the best at this point too.

Have you watched the 1997 Anime? It’s even better than the Golden Age Manga in some aspects.

I never finished it. From what I saw, it starts better. I don’t really know what else it does better. Doesn’t it leave out a lot of important material?

I honestly wouldn't say the 1997 anime did anything better than the manga, but it did unintentionally make Zodd not a nudist when he first fought Guts due to censorship reasons. The 3 Golden Age movie adaptations generally sucked but they did fix the plot hole of how nobody recognized Guts' big sword when he assassinated Julius and his son.

It leaves out some of the darker moments of the Manga like the King Of Midland’s fall, Donovan, Wyald, etc. But that just adds to the impact of the Eclipse in my opinion. It also focuses more on the Band Of The Hawk in general because of less foreshadowing for future Story Arcs.

How do the 3 Golden Age movies compare to the 2016 Anime? LOL.

Better, but they're still kind of ass. They made the Eclipse look more like a softcore rape porno scene than an actual dark moment where the female protagonist is violated to add to the tragedy of Guts losing all his friends, they still omitted Wyald, and some minor but important characters like the Queen are basically cut which sucks because Griffith choosing his dream over his comrades was partly due to Guts' reassurance that all his killings were weaving the path to his dream. That's not even to get into the fact that the second movie looks like a PS2 game all the way through.

When was el pico? Was it when el bando del hawkos was still rocking (as bands do).

Berserk isa hardu to raytu becuzu it's goree andu shitu, but rhe characters and dialogue feel like a shounen to me, and not in a good way. So it might have a good plot and themes, but if I rate it against shounen it's a 0 because I'm not showing a 12yo Berserk, if I rate it against Seinen it loses due to lack of maturity.

I rank band of the hawks, which i watched 12 years ago (would be fairer if i watched it recently) as...should I compare it to anime/manga of the same length only? Or to the same length peak of others? The problem is other peaks (eg Naruto Chunin Exams) were built upon earlier story-building, whereas Berserk BoH doesn't get that benefit.
One Piece peak (again, prev story-building tho)
Berserk peak
Naruto peak (goes above Berserk if it gets tye benefit of previous story-building)

Fuck this.

7/10. That's what i gave it 13 yrs ago. How do i compare berserk's peak to space bros or the fable? It's good to very good tho.

Jimmy: "Hyuk, look this horse rapes people, extremely mature!"
Jimmy the next day: "f*** sh** rap* p*nis vag*na bell*nd c**t fag*** cra* cru* motherf***** motherf*****s motherf*****ino!"
Jimmy's mom: "oh wow Jimmy's maturing so fast. Here you go Jimmy, you get a gold star and a lollipop"

It's a bit unfair to compare the BoH anime to OP or Naruto, cuz they have great soundtracks that help them.

HxH has a meh soundtrack but Chimera Ant is better than BoH, if I have ti rank them.

The Fable is more mature than Berserk, while still having crime and action. Much better-written characters and more realistic. Dorohedoro has more unique combat, a more interesting world, several major characters and plot twists. Berserk is good for feeling like it could be real (in BoH), like him beating 100 men would be an incredible feat (of mass murder) but doesn't feel supernatural. Griffith is a more compelling character than just about anyone. The class conflict/uprising plot (and how it fails, despite being led by a charismatic genius) is something I don't remember seeing elsewhere in anime/manga - closest would be Kaiji but he's only fighting on a small scale, or the Fishmen in One Piece which wasn't focused on as much. The idea of a character with noble intentions who sacrifices those he's supposed to be doing it for is also unique for the medium. Guts' backstory is good for loners or for people who want a character who's been through a lot of shit. I've avoided ranking them in this paragraph, just compared them instead. Berserk has like zero humour in BoH. It doesn't develop any if his enemies, whereas other manga often do - but maybe you prefer this, since IRL Guts wouldn't know their backstory, so it's like you see it from his (and Griffith's) perspective more. In terms of coolness/style points, his huge blade is very cool, occasionally fighting demons as a man is cool. It's cooler than "MC uses a non-lethal weapon" in Gintama or The Fable. Is it cooler than Dorohedoro's powers and Shin's cool outfit? It's comparable...it's cool cuz you imagine it could be real.

The best to compare to are Kingdom (not seen/only watched a few eps) and Vinland Saga. Maybe AoT, since that's edgy too. I'm not doing it tho (I don't even remember Vinland saga).
