Anyone else have a bit of trouble with the level jump in Poni Island? I've had exp share turned off but I was more or less keeping up with the trainer levels (maybe lagging a level behind here and there), but when I got to Poni Island I lagged behind a lot. The very first regular trainers' mons were like 3 or more levels above the levels of the previous boss, don't think there's been a jump like that before.

Yeah I got my ass handed to me in Poni Island a bit without healing, on top of that when you face Red or Green you aren't allowed to heal beforehand so you need to probably visit the Pokemon Center first.

@Drama seems I was mistaken about sandshrew, it is caught in two areas real close to the League, but you have access to one closer to mid-game-ish (don't recall exactly when but yeah)

The post game in this generation is ass

Probs won't do much until Bank is updated for the current generation. Hell, the goddamn national pokedex is apparently unavailable without the upgrade. Definitely a downer considering the story mode (while still a crappy story) was at least different enough than the last 6 gens

The fuck does that mean? You actually become the Champion?

Yeah in this game every time you beat the E4 you defend your title as champ against a random challenger rather than just challenging the champion you already beat.

Well the Sun and Moon anime isn't off to as good a start as the XY anime was, but how are the games? I've been hearting all sorts of good things about Gen VII's games. I'm hoping to get a 3DS for Christmas (Happy Holiday season everyone, by the way) and if I do so, I want to chill out in Kalos and explore that region first before heading to Alola. Truth be told, Alola isn't at the top of my list for regions to travel. I haven't played a mainstream Pokémon game since Emerald, I have played HeartGold but that's a remake so I don't consider it a main series installment like Pearl/Diamond/Platinum were for Gen IV. So with that said, I want explore other places before heading off to Alola. My Destination List as of now

1. Kalos (Kalos was beautiful in the anime and the XY anime itself was far better than I ever expected and ended beautifully so I'm more interested in the games before the others).

2. Unova (I don't think Unova in the anime was as bad as others think but I'd be lying if I said I was never interested in exploring Unova myself. I should probably start with Black or White, but I plan on going straight to Black or White 2 first).

3. Sinnoh (I should probably play Diamond or Pearl first but I'm thinking of just going straight to Platinum, I don't know if that'd change the Gen 4 experience though).

4. Hoenn or Alola (I've already travelled through Hoenn once before, but the I was looking forward to the Gen III remakes for a VERY long time and I want to see what they have to offer, but I don't know if I should wait a little while longer or just head some place new with Alola before going back to Hoenn).

Also how many Pokémon did Alola introduce? Kalos introduced 69-72 Pokémon which is disappointing since the least amount of Pokémon introduced in a generation was Johto with 100 Pokémon but 100 is still a good number of Pokémon to bring to the table, but still how many Alola Pokémon were introduced (Barring Alola forms).

I think Alola introduced like 79, not a great number but I think they went for a bit less because of the new forms.

Some random pros/cons from where I'm at (still on Poni Island):

- Among the easier games, but not as easy as the Gen 6 games at least
- Map is not as pleasant to use as other maps have been in the past
- You get a mini-map which is nice, although it marks your next destination to advance the plot which I don't care for
- I wanted to rip Hau's head off the entire game
- Music is pretty good
- Battle interface is decent but they show you type effectiveness for your moves now which I don't care for
- HMs are replaced with a new system, easily one of the best changes
- Bike and itemfinder are also replaced, not as good of a change imo
- I think they took the too much water thing seriously because there's not much surfing to do, hardly any required surfing. You do need a good balance but I'm not a fan of this decision, Sinnoh had far more to do in the water than this game
- Some of the areas are pretty nice, but some of them look kinda generic and same-y, granted these are more just forgettable routes in-between but with all these diverse islands they needn't be that way

What do the Alola forms do aside from change the design and types of certain Pokémon? 79? That's hardly more Pokémon than what Kalos introduced (Although like Alola, Kalos brought in Mega Evolution for multiple other Pokémon). At the same time while I haven't played the Gen VI or VII games that's something I don't like: The obvious favoritism Gen I is getting. When Gen VI was first released most of the Mega Evolved forms went to Gen I Pokémon, heck Charizard and Mewtwo got 2 forms each, while with the Gen III remakes now almost half of the Mega Evolution forms today belong to Gen III Pokémon but that was to promote the remakes. Some pokemon didn't even need Mega Evolved forms but still got them, other Pokémon could've benefitted from Mega Evolution. Then we have the Alola forms which is exclusive ENTIERLY to Gen I Pokémon. That just kind of annoys me, as long as I've been a fan of Pokémon, I've seen enough of Kanto to be sick of it at this point.

It's obviously to give people more incentive to buy the virtual console Generation 1 games, but yeah the Kanto favoritism is asinine. Not like I'll ever buy those trash games when I'm sick of even playing them on Emulator though lol.
