Do any of you guys play or collect the trading cards? I started collecting in the early 2000s, up until about 2008-2009. I am only now getting back into it due to having income. I collect mostly from older ex sets due to nostalgic reasons, but I also enjoy the old Wizards of the Coasts stuff too. I will post my collection soon, it has quite the price tag.

I never really cared for the game much, I just collected the cards because I liked them really... I can post pictures later, I just don't feel like digging through my closet right now.

I never played the game myself, I just collected because I liked the cards. It was the craze of elementary school.

Lol that reminds me of a funny story. My friends and I used to have a Pokemon business set up at school. I was known for having an elite deck of cards, so I'd let people look at my cards while I looked at theirs. While they were looking away, I would take their best card and pocket it.

Oh man, I was a trouble maker in grade 4 XD

I have a considerable collection of cards as well. Most of them consist of the original 150, with maybe a few from the next set that came out with gold and silver. I never played, but I loved the show and the game, and always appreciated the art.

More importantly, 99% of the collection came from a brother of mine who passed away. I took his Pokemon cards in memory and have vowed to be their guardian till the end of time.

I will start posting my collection over the next few days as well. It would be an honor to put his collection on here for all to view. In fact, I am psyched to do it. Since I don't play, the cards don't see a lot of action, so this is an awesome opportunity to bust them out!
Also, sorry FA but you deserved a thumbs down for dat one. Takin' those boys cards ;)

Those are some sick cards. I like the mix of really old school as well as modern old-school cards. (I want that Blaziken ex :[ )
http://postimg.org/gallery/dhxdkjh0/64828b38/

These are my best cards here. The Entei gold star is easily my most valuable card. I've probably got about 5-8,000 more cards in tins.

I used to collect/buy the cards all the time in the early 2000s. That and the Digimon TCG were huge while Pokemon was still in its infant stage here in the States, and Burger King had the gold plated cards (I still have my Charizard one), though Pokemon was definitely the bigger game. I used to have a crap ton of cards and I'd actually play the game, but it was never as interesting as YGO or even the Digimon TCG.

Then I got bored of Pokemon when YGO was gaining ground and never went back, and I don't plan to with all that "set rotation" business. At least with YGO you can still use a majority of the older cards.

Never knew how to play the actual game, and I didn't know anyone who did. Apparently you needed a board? I also found it weird how a lot of cards asked for a lot of energy cards or whatever it was, but there were so few of those in the packs that I bought.

Anyway, I collected the cards a bit at several points in my life in a sporadic sort of way, though I've regrettably lost many of them (I blame my mother and her "cleaning" that she often did when I was a bit younger). I recently unearthed a decent number of cards from like 2007, although I had a good number dating back as early as the late '90s, iirc.

Forgot about those gold BK cards, Pyrus. I still have my Pikachu packed away.

Damn I am old. Either that or I was too old to be getting Pokemon toys. Probably both.

Yeah I've got the gold plated Pikachu card. It came in that poke all which I conveniently can't find. :/

Sorry for imageshack guys. Its what I got to work with, lol.
Pokemon cards

Here are my two favorites. These I purchased on my own. For anyone who doesn't know, both of these cards were pulled from US shelves.

The trainer card on the left is thefamous swastika card.

On the right is Misty and her side boob, which was enough to get her banned from being distributed here. Damn that sideboob.

Collected until EXs came around then learned to play. Stopped when Luxchomp became illegal.
Just got back in for fun though. Built a custom deck that is currently working wonders. I'll post the list later, or you can see Hulkty's version on YouTube.

Just bought a "Shining Magikarp" for $30 CAD on ebay. My collection is growing quickly in value.

Post some picks once that bad boy arrives.

Did you seek that one out or did it come to you by chance?

I wanted to buy the Shining Gyarados counterpart, but it's too expensive at the moment. I settled for a golden Magikarp which is still worth a decent amount of cash. Happy to add it to the collection.
