Nah I doubt that, Shueisha has declared that they're taking this matter very seriously and might suspend future distribution of Watsuki's manga altogether, plus they say there's a possibility the 4th film's going to be cancelled (although that's also partially because the actress that played Kaoru got tebo).
I mean I doubt he'll be in prison for like 40 years as he would be in places like the US on technicalities like "separate counts of purchasing/downloading CP" but his career is probably never going to recover. Not that even the former Kenshin fan in me cares when he's never shown a hint of creativity since around halfway into the Jinchu arc and even his more popular manga after Kenshin were bottom-barrel trash that never passed the 10 volume mark like Busou renkin. Doesn't help that his art is so different now than it was in pre-Jinchu arcs that it looks generic and most of his character writing seems childish rather than possessing some depth as it did in some parts of Kenshin.

I already read a few of these spin-offs but they're basically edgy as hell trash that scrape Bleach tier where Jine blocks Kenshin's stab when they were hitokiri with his palms and then puts swords in the holes (lol) to try and look like more of a monster and Kenshin's scar turns red when he turns Battosai like this is some transformation lol. I have no idea what happened to Watsuki but he's been slogging for years.

And it'd be easier to respect him if he wasn't CLEARLY trying to dickride off Kenshin like a desperate whore and moreso doing spin-offs because he was asked like

But yeah, they mostly paint the picture that he's a disgrace who'll do anything to pay for his family because at least other shit tier spin offs like Gantz G or DBS were drawn by someone else with the author only doing part of the plot but he's just hoping the fans care more that it's more Kenshin than the fact that it's all trash no one even wants to animate (only recent Kenshin anime to come out in recent years is some shitty remake of the Kyoto arc with absurdly rushed pacing).
