This whole thing with the Bardock wish is just weird and unnecessary in my humble opinion. It's like they are really going all in and bending over backwards to make him a likable hero and to show where Goku's kindness comes from. The problem for me is that Bardock was already well liked and popular with the fans, even before Toriyama came back to the franchise. It wasn't enough to try and smooth him over from an anti-hero to a generic nice guy, but now there's this big push to retcon his influence over the entire series. Unless this is building towards some kind of Bardock/Galu reunion, I'm not sure why there's this much effort put into it.
Anyone see the new Boba Fett show? They kind of did the same thing. Boba Fett used to be a one-off character who was a badass and a killer and not to be fucked with, all of which grew out of a smaller appearance that didn't amount to much. But in the new show, he's portrayed as kinder and gentler, and some old man with a heart of gold who's just trying to do the right thing. In other words: cucked. I don't see this new version of Bardock being anywhere near as revered as the older version, because he's just basically a more masculine Galu with a costume change at this point.
