Roger is an asshole

Vivre card confirms his sword is a Supreme Grade called Ace. This nigga really named his child after his weapon. This dude only wanted a child to fulfill the prophecy of Joyboy so he sought out a D clan women to fuck. He's his literal personal weapon.

Ace was right to hate him.

Roger was long dead by the time Ace was born tho lol. Rouge must've named Ace.

Roger is one of the more interesting characters to me. He's often compared to Luffy but I don't see that at all aside from his general demeanor. I like that he's more of a stereotypical pirate who partakes in evil while also being morally grounded. I'd like to see a prequel about the rise of the Roger Pirates.

I'm not saying he's a bad character, I'm saying he's a dickhead. There is a reason he only decided to have a child after reaching Raftel.

Yea I know you're not. That's where I think Roger is interesting. He's a huge asshole but can also be a good guy when he needs to be.

Yeah if anything I like him. I like when characters are morally grey instead of just being purely good.

It just makes a lot of sense that Ace was meant to be Joyboy in the eyes Roger/WB and the World Government. Whitebeard said he didn't want to avenge Oden because there would be too many casualties, yet he went though great lengths just to save the son of Roger.

Well, I think that's also because he thought of Ace as his own son. But yes, that would make sense.
