I also just realized that he already tried killing Goku but Piccolo got in the way, and then he tried killing the z fighter who pissed him off the most after Goku and Piccolo since Krillin cut off his tail.

Yeah, I always thought Piccolo tried to save Goku but when I read the manga I noticed it was anime only. In the manga Piccolo was pierced by the beam and fell onto Goku as a result. It was cooler him trying to save Goku, but from a Freeza standpoint, it makes sense he'd leave Goku as the last as he intended to make Goku suffer before killing him... Which is why he killed Kuririn and intended to kill Gohan until Goku turned SSJ.
