Which works of fiction have really made you think and want to discuss those things with someone?

Legend of the Galactic Heroes due to how it seamlessly blends together all the aspects that make a series great for me, yet there's very little discussion of it.

Also the Star Wars franchise less so due to it having the depth to bring forth deep discussion and moreso the common question of how things such as the prequels could be fixed. Same for DB, I guess, seeing as how I've been discussing it for years and even bothered to post an extensive remake of the series in that one thread.

I meant more as-in the things it was dealing with or things that it made you think of. Like themes and such. Like I think Monster made me think quite a bit (I think).

Well, LoGH is still the main example for that due to the variety and volume of it's theme exploration; democracy vs autocracy, the workings of politics, morality's conflict with logic, the pros and cons of religion, military strategy. It's practically all on display here.

There's also plenty of other manga/anime I've discussed in this thread already, such as Welcome to the NHK, Berserk, FMA, Area 88 and Monster that all have rich thematic quality, whether it be narrowly focused or varied.

Tolkien's legendarium of Middle Earth is also a notable example due to the sheer vastness of it's content being comparable to many religions and mythologies, as within such an expansive work, Tolkien fully layed out plenty of themes which captured both his personal views and life experiences, from his catholic morals to his PTSD from fighting in both World Wars. This allows it to fully feel worthy as a magnum opus due to Tolkien having essentially channelled the entirety of life's experiences into this fictional universe of his.
On the topic of such classical literature, George Orwell's warnings on the danger of communism in Animal Farm and 1984 are also a poignant theme to help them act as cautionary tales that continue to remain relevant within the current political climate.
