Pitou has a good balance of entertainment and depth to her (I know their gender is unclear, but whatever) character. In her initial appearances, she seems to be a character with simplistic motives and personality, but still very entertaining in her nonchalant attitude to killing both weak and strong humans alike, along with her battle lust and build up as a final boss for Gon. However, as the events involving Komugi continue, we begin to see many aspects that set her apart from her peers. The Royal Guards each seem to represent an aspect of what makes one "human", whilst lacking the aspect of their two peers to help highlight both their individuality and their separation from a human mindset. In Pitou's case, we see a great deal of her value on emotions or motherly nurture. She's the only one of the guards to find no problem with Meruem's interest in Komugi and only cares about what makes her king happy. This later develops into her being willing to use her arm as payment to save Komugi and culminates in her devotion to Meruem being presented fully in her death, fighting after death in order to protect her master. We even see some change in her actions, as whilst still treating her duty above all, she still offered enough empathy to both saying sorry to Gon about Kite's fate, a stark contrast from her initial self which shows the impact that Meruem's change had on her.
Overall, her motives are quite simple, but presented in a subtle enough manner to seem very well executed.
