Don't you think alcohol and tobacco should be regulated too, by that logic? They're much more addictive than weed.
Yes for tobacco in its current form (the more classical cigars and the like had some genuine health benefits prior to the cut corners taking in mass-producing tobacco). Alcohol should also be regulated to a lesser given how more of a necessity it is for both social events and other services (eg. wine being necessary for Christians attending mass), though still requires some fair regulation when it comes to those that purchase it due to its addictive and harmful nature, or at least have an increased price to convince people to have a double-take in buying it as a luxury item.

What's something (hobby, game, manga, book etc) that you expected you'd like, but didn't? And vice versa.
I'll only list a few that come to mind for each category, otherwise we may have a post to rival the Appeal of Dreams :troll.

Disappointing expectations

Hobbies are more difficult to gauge as I wouldn't say there's something I've actively pursued enough to become a hobby that I didn't enjoy or thought I wouldn't. For games, one that definitely comes to mind is Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. I heard people raving about its nuanced character writing and portrayal of mental health. Instead, I was given a game with a main character who comes close to being an overpowered Mary Sue (skinny average woman not suggested to be some expert warrior somehow kills Norse Gods long before she even gets a magic sword), some of the most awkward attempts at forcing puzzle segments into a game, such a poor attempt at showcasing Senua's psychosis that you'd just think the main narrative that she was a witch who could see visions if not for the disclaimer right at the start and an extremely convoluted ending; all wrapped up in the game being a walking simulator with bare bones combat. If not for it being free on Game Pass and easy for achievements, I'd have dropped it after the 3rd chapter.
For anime/manga, Kingdom is one that comes to mind. I expected it to be a great strategic work with its Ancient Chinese setting and the critical response hyped it up to be something on par with Vinland Saga or even Berserk. Instead, I got what was essentially a generic Shonen protagonist who's incredibly plot armoured and gets by by screaming and swinging his sword rather than any tactics, with only the explicit content separating it from something like Naruto.
For books, Shadow of the Conqueror is one. I thought I'd like it as it's by the YouTuber Shadiversity who does great analyses on weaponry, medieval warfare, etc. It had an interesting premise, though the heavy use of destiny as a plot device throughout it turned me off it.

Surprises, to be sure, but welcome ones

For games, I was sceptical on if I'd like the Telltale Walking Dead games when I got into them, but found them very interesting (despite some drops in quality at points) to the extent I've played through each one several times.
For anime/manga, Gundam comes to mind. I didn't know much about it beyond giant robots fighting when getting in and what footage I'd seen of the alternate universe series certainly didn't help. When watching through most of the Universal Century timeline series after seeing some reviews of such series though, I came to find it as a great war drama for the most part with it doing a lot of elements that I wish were explored more in sci-fi (eg. Zeta Gundam is what the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy should've been if Disney cared more about writing a coherent narrative than pushing agendas).
For books, there's less in that area as I usually commit time to reading full novels and such only if they spark my interest to begin with. The most that comes to mind is expecting A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons to be a huge step down in quality from the first three A Song of Ice and Fire books with how some fans treat them. Even though it didn't reach quite the same peaks as what came before, I still wouldn't say the drop in quality was anywhere near as severe as what they made it out to be, especially not compared to the equivalent events in the show.

They would've ended up being defeated even if by some miracle they overcame him, considering Maul's schemes weren't as far reaching and intricate as he believed and consisted more of him just winging it. With Palpatine gone, the Jedi would've taken a more active stance in the Republic's military campaigns and Dooku would consider speeding up Sidious' overarching plan but with him cutting to the chase of being supreme commander of the Confederacy. How things go then depend on if Maul and Dooku form an alliance.

1. Maul and Dooku work together to combat the Jedi. The combination of Maul's crime syndicates and the CIS are able to start gaining the edge against the Republic, particularly with the funds given to Kamino being far more of a shaky contract without Palpatine and things conclude with a final battle when sieging Coruscant. Dooku, knowing of Order 66, would activate it on nearby Clones and turn the tide against the Jedi. Not even the most skilled Jedi would hold out for long against both the CIS and Clones bombarding them and a decisive Separatist victory would occur. It wouldn't be long before Maul and Dooku then ended their alliance, with the winner of that conflict being Dooku due to his greater lightsaber skill and better military resources. Dooku would then put in place his version of the Empire with its humano-centric policies and use Grievous as a scapegoat for the Separatists' war crimes, ruling unopposed.

2. The war remains a three party one of the Republic, CIS and Maul. Maul is ultimately defeated at some point and it'd reach the point where, without Sidious, Dooku would offer an armistice and publically leak Sidious' plans. With Palpatine not pushing to extend the war and influence the senate, the Republic would agree to peace terms and allow the consenting Separatist worlds to remain independent. The galaxy is mostly peaceful from thereon, the only thread left being Anakin leaving the Order after the birth of his children.

Was already familiar with GG Allin thanks to Count Dankula's video, but the full interview is a great microcosm of how crazy and morally debauched he was. I will say there was some truth to his predictions for society though, considering the abhorrent nature of most cases of anarchy and how some places are actively trying to normalise relations with 12-13 year olds that show he was onto something on the degradation of society. Just more proof that the prison system doesn't do enough to thoroughly change convicts or punish the unrepentant, not to mention the lack of self-awareness when a lot of the things he supported in opposition to the establishment were being slowly and subtlely pushed by mainstream establishments at the time.
Also, :p123 being inspired by him makes more sense than it should.

RotS, by far. TCW is good overall, but succeeds more so at fleshing out the world building more and adding additional aspects to established characters rather than crafting a narrative on par with RotS, and there are some continuity issues with the prequels. The final season is also decent at best with an average first arc, terrible second arc and flawed but meaningful third arc.

How long have you been into anime and manga? Given the tremendous stats on your MAL, what will you do in two years when you have nothing left to read/watch? :troll

Technically since I was 6 to 7, watching Pokemon and Dragon Ball on Toonami. As far as when I started exploring the medium properly, probably since I was about 11 or 12 when I discovered DB and such were more than just typical cartoons and kept exploring the medium ever since.

Already practically reached that point when there's only a handful or so of anime/manga I have interest in exploring that I haven't already, so I'm focusing more on either rereading/rewatching ones that I like or putting more time into exploring films and live-action tv series.

Have you played the Trunks Kakarot DLC yet? What do you think about them not teasing Galu Black with it, even though in the same scene where :shin died in the original, Black was looming in the horizon? Do you think they're saving Black (and probably Jiren, Moro and Granolah and/or the new movie villain of those stories are complete by then) for the next game?

Haven't played it yet, so I'll comment more when I have. The lack of Super content probably suggests that they'll be saving it for a sequel, which makes sense since some events in Super would have to be rewritten a fair bit to fit with Kakarot's continuity (eg. Freeza still being alive) and its status as a clearly alternate timeline gives some leeway to ignore timeline-altering events such as Zamasu's actions should Kakarot remain a stand-alone game.

Kind of unrelated, but after the big battles on M2, do you think I should take it easy for the next chapter and write a slower-paced, standard DB-gathering quest type of chapter? I feel like having two battles with Baby back to back would be kind of tiring for the reader.

I'd say you can go either way with it. Taking a more half-and-half approach like the original GT could be the route to go, with Baby's influence still tying to the narrative without another bombastic confrontation.

Also, to add to the previous question, the way the Kakarot DLC functions would also make implementing Goku Black difficult. Not only could the first two DLC be played independent from the main story, but the Trunks DLC is even further removed with Trunks/Gohan's levels not carrying over to/from the other parts of the game, which would make implementing Trunks into the Goku Black Arc awkward when having two different versions to draw from.

They could've just teased Black at the end though without them having to do a boss battle where he'd display his lulzy ass SSJ4 voice again just stomp Trunks and leave him alive.

Either that, or they could have done a battle between base Black and SSJ2 Trunks where Trunks' levels from the main game does carry over, but Black's stats are way higher despite them likely both being Level 300 for a lot of people who cleared the FnF quest.
