SSJ3 and suppression

What do you think? Can SSJ3 form be suppressed? Goku wasn't going all out against Fat Buu and Vegeta noted his power is beyond his imagination when he fought Kid Buu.
You can chalk this up to effort as Goku wasn't trying to kill Fat Buu but still; what do you think?

I'd like to think that if we go by M12 it might make sense.

We could have:

Goku/Majin Vegeta SSJ2 = 1
Goku SSJ3 (Suppressed against Fat Boo) = 4

Gotenks Base (Pre) = 1.8
Gotenks SSJ = 4.5

Super Boo = 78

Gotenks Base (Post) = 9
Gotenks SSJ = 22.5
Gotenks SSJ2 = 45
Gotenks SSJ3 = 90

Ultimate Gohan = 115.2

Goku SSJ3 (FP) = 16

Kid Boo = 13

M12:

Goku SSJ2 = 1.6
Goku SSJ3 = 25.6

Fat Janemba = 16
Super Janemba (Initial) = 49.92
Super Janemba (Deleted) = 62.4
Super Janemba (FP) = 78

Gogeta Base = 76.8
Gogeta SSJ = 192

I don't think so. Think about how difficult being able to suppress regular Super Saiyan was. The strain from that form was extreme enough that Goku and Gohan made mastering it the purpose of their RoSaT training. SSJ3 is exponentially more strenuous than that, like probably >100x more strenuous if we compare the two. Not only that, but it was a new form for Goku and he had no experience with it in the living world. To assume he'd have that level of control of the form seems wrong to me.

I think he just pulled his punches against Fat Boo to avoid a life or death battle. When he said he'd go full throttle against Kid Boo he meant that he'd use SSJ3 from the start, whereas he usually begins at base or SSJ to enjoy a good fight. SSJ3 seems extremely hard to maintain much less suppress, to the point that a fused being like Gotenks had his fusion time sapped to 5 minutes and reverted to base when charging a full power attack near the end of those 5 minutes. I don't believe a singular warrior like Goku, who literally said the transformation took much longer than the two previous due to his lack of control over the form, has the expertise to suppress the form's power. Hell it remains to be seen if even SSJ2 can be suppressed, and Goku was seen still keeping SSJ2 even after being knocked out (for a brief while).

I mean, I'm sure Goku can suppress SSJ3... why would he? He wasn't going all out against Fat Buu cuz he didn't want to kill him (He was gonna leave it to Gotenks) but that was the only time I think we really saw a "Supressed" SSJ3

Even in the brief moment in the TOP he was probably using most of his power when he went SSJ3

I think if Goku was actually suppressed against Fat Boo the quote would have been worded differently. "If you used full power" instead of "if you went all out." The Z Senshi always seemed to be able to tell when people were holding back their true power, the statement would have been asked more outright if that was the case.

That’s a headcanon that originated around here and I’ve never seen it anywhere else.
I was debating a clown on Naruto Forums who kept trying to refute Pre ROSAT SSJ Gotenks being anywhere close to SSJ3 Goku by saying that Goku was suppressed, and I told him that SSJ3 is too draining and unstable to be suppressed, at which they pointed out Vegeta statement

Freeza’s power is also draining and he could suppress it.

SSJ Gotenks is a weird case because just Goku predicting isn't enough, but it's quite literally all we got.

But Freeza is not using transformation, his 100% is his natural state

Not quite. When SSJ Gotenks appeared Piccolo did note that he had the power, but wanted to check his speed

There is no point to that if his power was lacking, as then he would just say he was too weak to defeat Buu.

Also, when SSJ Gotenks goes to fight Buu, the only thing Piccolo notes is that fusion is almost over, nothing else

Right. I also remember a volume synopsis saying Goten and Trunks perfected fusion right before Super Boo showed up. The confirmations are just too subtle and easy to miss.

Yea, Goku's gamble had to do with kids mastering the fusion. And it was a gamble because they had like only 2 days

Goku was pretty explicit that if they master the fusion, they will be able to defeat Buu. He pretty much tells this to Chi-Chi

But doesn't he tell Piccolo the boys won't need Rosat when learning fusion?

I think the gamble is about whether the boys would take it seriously. Gotenks had everything going for him and still fumbled the bag.

I believe that SSJ3 can be suppressed, but I also imagine it is even more straining than 100% Freeza, or Grade 2 or Grade 3 for that matter, so it must be more difficult to do so.

I'd wager he could, but there'd just be no upside to it. Suppression is an excellent resource for fodder, but very risky against someone that can compete with you and requires a disciplined strategy to overcome.
