Apparently this dude is nearly 3 centuries old and yet he looks middle aged. Lucky genes or what?

The true canon reason is that Taopaipai visited the One Piece dimension and went to a time period before Marco ate the devil fruit and took it for himself. This confirms that all Shonen series is comprised of the same reality albeit different dimensions. Why we didn't see him use his DF powers you may ask? He's a fucking dickhead that's why.

Isn’t Roshi the same age?
Roshi and Tsuru Sennin are significantly older. Tao Pai Pai was born in Age 459 according to the Daizenshuu timeline, just 2 years before Piccolo Daimao's emergence and Mutaito's death.

Ever heard of Li Ching Yun? He’s a chinese man that supposedly lived 256 years. He was one of those oriental martial artists that believed in Chi control.

It’s probably bull, but it’s based on the same concepts as Dragon Ball. Ki does wonders in your life man.

Yeah, the lifespans of Roshi, Tsuru Sennin, Tao and Karin are definitely based on the Chinese and Japanese legends of sages living extremely long through Chi/Ki mastery. There's also Super revealing Roshi eats some special herb now and then to increase his lifespan, which plugs any holes that come from greater Ki experts not having decelerated ageing. I guess Tao stocked up on them in his spare time.

Sure but he doesn't look as old as he should in contrast to Roshi and Tsuru despite being maybe a few decades younger. I think him being the brother of the latter wasn't something he planned during the RRA arc.

How old was Kame-Sen'nin during Piccolo Damaio's first resurgence?

Hard to say. He definitely looks fairly young and was supposedly in his prime at this point.

Looks comparable to late DB/early Z Tenshinhan but could be older.

Ic. then maybe he drank the elixir of life when he was old and then hasn't aged since, while Tao Pai Pai drank it while he was that age?

That elixir was said to be fake. The immortal phoenix hasn't been proven to be a fake as far as I'm aware, so maybe that's what was used.

Strange, I had always taken Kame-Sen'nin saying that as it being fake that the elixir would protect him from dying against Piccolo, not that the whole drinking the elixir was fake, since in my mind Kame had said to Tsuru something like "so you took the elixir too" in their reencounter at the 22nd Budokai, but then I checked the manga and there was no such statement.

Maybe the phoenix could grant eternal life but obviously could still die by unnatural causes.

Makes me wonder how he died in the 100 years timeskip from GT. Pan was the last Z Fighter alive.

How do you know that he died? He might've been working at Tenshinhan's brothel dojo :troll

Without resorting to the cheap answer of "GT plot hole" it wasn't stated there was any kind of perpetual peace in those 100 years and GT already established there were a handful of Boo tier characters roaming around the universe. Wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume some villain showed up who managed to kill Roshi before he got taken down.

Then again, Dende had to be alive too (unless assuming the events at the end of GT somehow divorced the link between he and the DBs), though you can at least interpret from the visuals and it being stated that Pan was only one left from "that time" purely concerns the characters who went to Capsule Corp. at the end of the Baby Arc.
