Your interpretation is completely made up until you show me proper evidence. I’m doing exactly what you claim to do: I’m taking the statement as it is.

That makes no sense dude. Vegeta literally implies he’s aware of it. The author doesn’t have to show you evidence to get his point across.

All Vegeta says is that Trunks = Trunks. There's nothing about Cell or 17's experience inside of it anywhere. You're not the author, so you're still have to show me anything in the context that implies your interpretation is correct.

But if we're trying to get in the author's head, here's what I'm thinking... What did Toyotaro have in mind when saying 17 saw Trunks? He might have had what you suggested in mind, but since he failed to give Vegeta this info on screen, it fails to be concrete. Does he even have anything specific on his mind? Or is this statement just a "yeah this Trunks is strong too" statement?

I was going to ask about the statement in Kanzenshuu, but I doubt it'll help. I noticed you posted in the general translation thread. There was another, smaller thread in the Super section, but it wasn't pinned and the mods will probably just lock it if you try to bump it. They really don't like necroposting there.

I skimmed through the pages when I posted that scan to SSJ2 earlier. The chapter before Goku is surprised about that, so I doubt 18 ever commented on it. She doesn't talk much anyway. Goku is flying around recruiting people and only stops to talk about Freeza. Vegeta and 17 are seeing each other for the first time since the Androids Saga when they talk about Trunks.

So yeah, no way Vegeta has CG Trunks in mind... Although that sure is a sweet placement.

Yeah sorry P but you have no proof Vegeta knew 17 had CGs Trunks in mind. It's weak to use that as an uncontestable evidence. It's likely just a general, casual statement of "my present son is really strong too". I guess, since kid Trunks is way stronger than the Trunks 17 fell in one shot, Vegeta could have said "my kid is way stronger than the future version of my son" for better effects. But it's not like Trunks is going on a rough mission. He's defending the island from earthlings lol, so Vegeta has no reason to oversell him. Also as GSM pointed out, Goku was surprised that 17 knew his voice... and had to be informed by 17 that he saw everything while inside Cell.

Are you actually going with that dude on Neo’s argument? So Vegeta is saying Kid Trunks is as strong as Android Saga Trunks. My goodness. And this people is why servers get shut down.

That is... not at all what he's saying dude. He's saying that based on the information we are given, the literal interpretation would be that Kid Trunks is comparable to Android Saga Trunks. Because there's significant evidence that blatantly contradicts this, we know that the literal interpretation is wrong. Therefore, there must be another meaning behind the statement.

The server got shut down because you were gaslighting people into debating the way you wanted them to. It had nothing to do with posing scenarios such as this one that is meant to challenge our understanding of the series.
